It's funny because next came vice city with a very scarface like theme...kinda wished they saved these songs for vice city I always get mixed up and think this and "push it to the limit" is in VC but it's actually 3...ahh we all know where Rockstar games Heart truly was

It undoubtedly would have been misunderstood. Today everything has to be 100% literal or the kids won't get it. Most people back when this song was new realized the lyrics were really about doing drugs and it had an ironic interpretation of it. Irony, subtext and humor are dead concepts for today's listeners so if this song came out today most would honestly believe it's just some "party song" with "silly lyrics" which means nothing.
