I tried to pull up and control each plane as much as I could, but some of the planes were uncontrollable at such low speed. And the reason why I chose such a low speed was that you never know in what kind of situation or speed the engines will fail, so I kinda wanted to prepare for the worst case scenario.

wouldn't it be more useful to know how far they go when the engines go off at their respective top speed? Some planes just don't do well at such low speeds and others can't even reach the speeds some do so maybe there's no point starting them off at the same speed. Everyone flies full speed anyways so how much each plane can glide from their top speed whatever that is is more useful information.

Idk how this game physics work but the angle of body at the moment they start to fall largely affects the initial speed and acceleration in which they fall before reaching terminal speed.

Finally not content thats like STOPPING THE TRAIN IN GTA 5 I like the fact that this is a test that actually works and hasn't been done 67 times

Many of the planes, especially Most of the small attack crafts seems to have the aerodynamic of a freight train with thick concrete duck wings and are only kept in sky by a shitton of thrust. Like that Hydra was only performing better than a Russian car with the aerodynamic of a sarcophagus.

@@intellectualbaguette7507 with those planes you have to fly in knife and control altitude with the rudders... Idk why it works like that, but it does with the P996, Hydra, Seabreeze and Pyro from what i can remember. The Pyro can nearly fly stationary if you control it well and in knife flight

@@jackmurray1466 no he’s pretty bang on there, especially considered these larger wing aircrafts are all swept back wing, which is a great design feature for increasing the Mcrit number but they produce less lift at all speeds slow and fast then straight wing aeroplanes.

I agree, it's way better than cars just exploding on such impacts. In GTA IV when you're inside any vehicle, they're not explode on impacts. Seeing that all vehicles explode on impacts makes me that Rockstar wish that all vehicles behave like that in real life.

They used to have a similar system that allowed for vehicular deformation, but for some reason it was removed before the game was released, being replaced by the system we have now.

It would work a lot better with more accuracy if the planes started out flying, they don’t have much momentum in this test. Nice video anyhow , I enjoy your content.

In the lazer a good way to maintain altitude without engines is by rolling the the left or right so your facing sideways and use your rudder. For example: if you roll the jet to the left and press your right rudder button you will lose altitude a lot slower and will be able to cover a further distance without engines

Tip: using the rudder is better than using the elevator. For some reason you keep pressing left or right rudder (L1/R1 ps LB RB Xbox A/D pc) the plane stays doesn’t dive down as easy. I once flew from the LS airport to Trevors Airport. TLDR: knife flying can keep you in the air in longer.

I knew the Russian would show up with his car and it still caught me by surprise.

I kinda think this test was a little unfair, they looked to be launched at about the same speeds instead of cruising (operational) speeds per aircraft. It does fit in with the title, not some much for the actual tests. (Like engine failure mentioned in the first of the video) Not just seeing how far they can glide, but how far they can glide at operational speeds. Does that make sense?

The planes that have the best chance are planes that are meant to fly a low speeds because of their low speed, they struggle to get lift, so their wings are made to get as much lift as they can but this also makes them bad at high speeds. Jet planes are made to go super fast so a simple wing will be enough to lift the plane at those speeds. However, a lower speeds, not enough air passes over the wings to give lift. Making them drop like a rock

Most of these planes could have made it much further if they had more speed when they left the platform because most of these jets such as the Seabreeze, hydra, lazer and hydra never got passed stall speed even after excelerating and crashed. For example the Dodo, titan and Shmal had a low enough stall speed for them to actually glide effectively

I have a story for you all . So I was doing the second scope out mission for the Cato perico heist and some tryhard try to take me out the sky so I got quick did test NAT type and I was save. Later my engine shut down while flying over maze bank and just by gliding I got all the way to the check point (I was quite high up) so I think the velum is the best
