Where I'm at if you make a right turn at a red/stop without making a full 3 second stop is grounds for a ticket. They usually refer to it as a rolling stop.

Are CIV events pre-determined (for example CIV X gets the assigment to rob a bank or CIV Y will do a DUI) or do they get to choose themselves what they do?

Most of it is up to civs, often tho they will make sure there is no major scene in progress so it doesn't get too out of hand

Where I live in PG County Maryland they don’t double up but they 90% of traffic stops are conducted with multiple cars and Montgomery County Police is staffed to the point that its multiple cars at every corner at any given time. DC police double up in high crime areas sometimes even 4 deep in the unmarked cars

Just curious, for people in OCRP who are in the irl law enforcement careers RPing as LSPD, do you see it as a way to unwind your day or something to that effect? Because for me, playing a game that emulates more or less your potentially stressful jobs is a little odd.

Well, one is a sport occupation with the worst thing usually is a career-ending injury and the occupation only require you to display your skills during the match in that certain part of the year. The other is a job spanning through most of the year where you need to be vigilant through your entire shift and the worst thing that could happen is being severely injured if not fatally so. (this is oversimplification, but hopefully it'll bring the point across)

Military personnel playing CoD is one thing, as the game more or less your run-the-mill shooter, which may be used to unwind from the stressful experiences. The comparison that I am trying to draw here is that irl police officers playing a considerably immersive setting like OCRP's PD is more like military personnel's enjoyment towards military simulators like Squad and the likes.

Anakin Skyobiliviator I understand where you're coming from and I think I agree with you because I would imagine that it's stressful enough where you don't want to deal with it when you don't have to. I do mechanic work for a living and I can enjoy stuff like My Summer Car and racing sims and mechanic sims and stuff but only because it's an oversimplified version of the real stuff. For example, IRL you can struggle with a rusty bolt with the risk of stripping or breaking it, and then it would become a bigger pain in the ass the drill it out or something, and if it's in a difficult place it becomes even worse. Now all that being said, if a video game had THAT part too I probably wouldn't enjoy it as much. However, it's still not as bad as IRL because you don't bust your knuckles or exert any energy or have any real risk. With everything being said I can see how the oversimplified version can be enjoyable in the sense that it's something you know, and in the case of RP you can probably bring something useful to the table RP-wise. TL/DR: A simplified version of someone's job without having any of the IRL risks involved may be enjoyable and amusing (to some, especially if they like their job).

I think the fact you broke into the RV would be inadmissible in a court of law. Unless you had a subpoena or reasonable cause to break into the car (smell leading to believe there was a dead body inside, a fire in the car, sound leading to believe there was someone trapped inside, etc.) it most likely wouldn't be admissible in court.

Logically, wouldn't the police fallback if a pursuit suspect was shooting at police, or at least possesses a weapon? In California, our police would fallback if the pursuit suspect has fired shots or at least possess a weapon. They would never, ever try to cut in front of the pursuit suspect to block or disable them because the police would be in direct line of fire of the pursuit suspect. They would usually keep their distance.

Jose Barrios All departments have different procedures. I know that California Highway Patrol has a procedure that if a motorcyclist is shooting at officers they can ram the shooter, like what you seen here in Jeff's video.

that could be debatable. the situation of a large vehicle evading police and ramming officers with his vehicle would warrant the termination of the pursuit by any means necessary. see Mullenix v. Luna, 14-1143 (SCOTUS, 2016) and Scott v. Harris, 000 US 05-1631 (2007). Mullenix has to do with shooting at fleeing vehicles, Scott is more for a PIT maneuver.

The former sheriff in my home area of South Mississippi used a shotgun to hit tires WHILE HE WAS CHASING A SUSPECT. Granted he was brought up on a few charges several years later so take that tactic with a grain of salt. The sheriff's name was Mike Byrd, you can find the shotgun video on KZread somewhere I'm sure.

I'm sure in some states, police officers can be given authorization to *open fire on a fleeing vehicle's tires.* There was one instance in I believe *1995* somewhere in *Florida* where an F.S.O. officer packing a *shotgun* shot out the *left-rear tire* on a stolen *Toyota Celica ST-185 RC* with *pinpoint accuracy* as they roared past.
