The actual difference between Jet Skis and Waverunners has nothing to do with sitting or standing, but it has to do with branding. The Jet Ski isn't a style, it is a model name. It is from the manufacturer Kawasaki. There are both stand-up and sit-down ones. The first one was stand-up. The Waverunner was manufactured after that, by Yamaha. The first Waverunner model was a sit-down. After that, Kawasaki manufactured a Jet Ski model that was a sit-down personal water craft.
