ayo thanks man this worked for me. all of a sudden for a few months now my gta would run normal then 5 mins after i would get high cpu usage and the fps would drop from 70 to 40. now with your fix my game is running normal thanks again

also try windowed borderless mode at full resolution as for reason it's much smoother than full screen in my case, and don't play custom radio as it will increase cpu usage

finally a solution. My CPU reaches 80% usage and up to 90C°, but by removing cores i was able to lower the temperature. Fuck this game and whoever optimized it.

I get drops from 60 down to the 40's specifically during sunsets in the city no matter which settings I'm running, and this unfortunately didn't seem to help. Happens in both modded and vanilla story mode. Drives me insane and makes me question why people call GTA 5 a well optimized title. Edit: Turns out this is a bug with certain Ryzen CPU's due to LOD lights. There's a simple script called "Night Performance Fix for AMD Ryzen(zen/zen+) processors" that fixes this issue.
