When i heard about the definitive edition, I was looking forward to buying it. I never got to play GTA 3, and I never finished Vice City and San Andreas. This definitive edition was supposed to be an amazing Christmas present for myself. After everything that's happened, there's no way in hell I'm buying it. I am never going to reward a company for creating bad product.

GTA: Vice City is very easy to complete og and GTA3 and GTA: SanAndreas is very hard to finnished. GTA3 is extremely hard to finnish it took me almost a year to finnish that game. Vice City tooks 3 days and SanAndreas after 2 months. But we can hope that Rockstar Games will fix The Definitive Edition soon.

I must admit that the 'definitive' edition does have a single positive thing about it: it gave me a new sense of admiration for those old classics. I always loved those games, but never realised just how much craftsmanship went into them until the 'definitive' edition got released.

Yep, but this is true of a lot of games, these days. A lot of big title games have awful animations, texture problems, clipping all over the place. There are not that many AAA titles that really focus on crafting the world with care.

You can literally see and feel how much effort, love and care went into the original title. It was a commercial product, yes, but it was driven by the will and lust to create. 2001 and we have leaves and newspapers being lifted by passing cars. It's that kind of detail that made these games feel like a real world and famous around the world. Sadly the new DEFECTIVE versions portray what the gaming industry has become nowadays - Lazy, cheap, all bling bling and shine but nothing to show for.

Couldn't have said it better myself. They weren't looking to create works of art back in the early 2000s but they took pride in the games they made, had to use art direction and atmosphere to make up for a lack of graphics and wanted to make games they enjoyed playing themselves as much as other people. Things have just really changed now.

Exactly, I couldn't have said it better but you can also add how most games are repetitive for example EA's games and some are all about useless and endless Grinding, like current Assassin's creed(Ubisoft). It just sucks how corrupt and greedy this industry has become and Cyberpunk was the start of what worse is about to come.

@@360eradaryl7 Nah man you don't understand, have you ever played EA'S game, they are all just repetitive and even come with new bugs with every release. Not only that Ubisoft's games are all about grinding and they keep on milking the title which was already dead like Assassin's creed and just look at Project CD red(Cyberpunk 2077). There is no good left nowadays, story games are slowly and gradually degrading and online games have taken over, I hate that this is happening but if the companies are going to become greedy this will eventually happen.

This just proves how good of a game development company Rockstar was. Rockstar gave grove street games their assets and everything and they still messed it up. You can imagine how bad the game would be if they weren’t copying from an old game. The worst part is Rockstar approved this garbage product so Rockstar themselves have changed. They were ok with some low budget studio butchering one of the most iconic games in the franchise. They don’t care because they know people will still buy the game. The passion for art is gone.

Rockstar hasn't changed. Time is an issue, they wanted to release trilogy on the same day gta 3 came out that is, nov 11. When grove street games messed up they had no other choice but to release the way it was.

There's no one there now to tell take2 to fuck off and make sure shit gets done right. If R* was the same company it was in 2018 or even before that this literal mobile port scam would've never seen the light of day. It would probably have been developed in-house and had the attention and quality these 3 games deserved but instead we get this dumpster fire that shits all over R* and thier legacy.

Can we agree about Claude took 20 years in the defective édition ? In the OG he looks a bit younger (around 20-25 YO instead of is 30) and we can imagine him like a beautiful man but in defective, let's be honest, he looks like a 40 YO man full of dr*gs. He seriously looks scarier than Trevor.

GTA3 was a masterpiece for its time, so much artistry and detail put into it.

It's like they didn't think anyone would care about these "minor" details, but it's what created the atmosphere of this game that I fell in love with back in the day. They've destroyed all sense of immersion.

I get that Rockstar get a lot of bad rep for making such stupid mistakes due to corporate decisions, but the blame shifting is misleading due to Take 2 Interactives being responsible for the control over the developers, not the developers themselves. That's like blaming on the actors and directors for making bad films when executive producers, screenwriters, and other people working behind the scenes are held accountable and get off scot-free. That's just dumb if you know what I mean.

No it's because back then the devs didn't had much they used what they got and tried to make something good for gta 3 it started from a cartoonish atmosphere like gta 1 and 2 to much more dark and much more scary vibe then any gta games before this and the 2 other games released after this was released tried to build a base for this game showing what's going on before this takes place

GTA III Claude: *reacts and gives the finger to drivers and even cops* GTA III D.E. Claude: *....................* Now I can truly say that Claude was Completely Lifeless in the Disaster Edition unlike in the OG.

these days developers are only interested about earning money and one way to doe this is to make remaster of old popular games. Good to see someone finally bringing out the truth .

@@v.k.rt.m.6030 i agree to you but to be honest , Rockstar were alltime busy on updating Red dead online and GTA Online . also some rumours are that Rockstar and also holding up other projects like RDR1 PC port and so for GTA LCS ( tho its un confirmed ) . trust me they spent more time on earning from Online games than on supervising the dev of GTA Trilogy DE .

Is satisfying to see that even if the games are dying, gamers have maintained their expectation standards. We won't allow such bullshits anymore, if game companies are making crap games, then they will be trolled & crushed by the community.

@Chadrick Basedman Yes, back then we had seriously awesome games with fair decent graphics at that time, the gamepaly was more focused. Now, they are all in rush of beating each other in more & more game sales instead of actually making masterpieces. Even Rockstar failed to deliver the Definitive Trio, it was completely unexpected from them.

Also don't forget they removed the animation when Claude bumps into a wall by jumping towards it too. They also removed his dive animation when jumping towards a high speeding vehicle.

Claude's character model in _GTA 3 Definitive Edition_ looks like the animation from that one Coca Cola commercial.

What I learnt: The first damn game I ever played was wayyyyy ahead of its time and a designed masterpiece with great detailing which didn't even catch the eye until detailed analysis. I'm frankly proud I grew up with such golden games.

They're either excelling at it, eg - Bright Memory Infinite, or the government is rightfully giving a curfew on games. Imagine having control of a game series that people LOVE. And giving it a huge overhall. Something people wanted. And yet fucking it up so Horribly that it shines brighter as a flaming garbage fire than Both Battlefield 2042 and Vanguard combined.

Some other comparisons I found: -When he's about to get hit by car, he has evade animation (jump to the side) in OG but not in DE. -He can strafe and move backward in OG but not in DE. -When he breaks a window (like in internet cafe) by gunshot, the hole he caused before the window actually breaks is on the exact spot he shot in OG. But in DE, the hole is always on the center of the breaking window. -DE lacks of fogging that OG has.

Another sound effect missing in the defective edition: The Ammo Dropping when firing a gun sound

How can a developer be THIS bad at their job!? They didn't even have to make the games, Rockstar already did it around 20 years ago!! (before they turned into Cockstar). Grove Street managed to make virtually everything worse, it just boggles the mind. How could the original developers let this happen to their OG masterpieces? It's genuinely appalling.

Because they don't care, they know people will buy it and play it regardless. They don't care if older players are annoyed, new players will like it because that's what their standard is with gaming. I hope you aren't just realising now how sad and pathetic the gaming industry has been for the past 5-10 years. It's just shameless money making and creating poor quality games but make them look shiny and super high res because that's all the modern dim gaming player cares about.

If you ask me if could time travel id replace the defective dition with the OG edition just do a grapbics swap... than it would make sense for the definitive dition to be made.

people who play rockstar games since they were kids knew that about rockstar 3 years after gta v came out, slowly the heart aka most of the devs and founders left over the years and well just watch take 2s E3 press conference and you will realize where the direction of the studio is going, only main reason why red dead redemption 2 was a success was because half the original crew on the first game worked on the second red dead redemption still you can feel the tone difference in red dead redemption 1 and red dead redemption 2. for example red dead redemption 1 was the opposite of red dead redemption 2 in every way, red dead redemption 1 had spaghetti western arcade style gameplay with the only realism being the ragdoll physics from the europia engine which to me is more realistic than the ragdoll physics in red dead redemption 2 when you shoot people. and even though the gameplay was wacky to fully extend the fun the story and stranger missions kept it on a realism level to let you know its a serious game for example there was racism in the game to show that in that time period it was a thing, rockstar was not glorying it but they were showing that it was part of the time like the professor near the end of the game you save from dutch and he talks about how savage the native american him and john work with and has ignorant assumptions about him even though they never met, and the stranger missions had a weird haunted feeling but nothing to far out like red dead redemption 2 thats also something else i preferred in 1 over 2 is the graphical design choices and of it all. for example everything is old and worn out and dusty and the bottom half of the map was more detailed than 2s map although i heard rumors that rockstar rushed the bottom part of the map because they were originally not going to add it and focus on the top part of the map which parts of the top map got cut out of the final game. in red dead redemption 2 it tries to go for a more unrealistic story but realistic gameplay that has more annoying factors of it than fun ones for example the horses in red dead redemption 2 cannot be spawned behind you at any time basically you have to dismiss it or you will just be stuck in the middle of nowhere that was not a problem in red dead redemption 1 because they were programmed to spawn behind your so the situation of being stranded would never happen and then theres needing to be horses to get weapons it may be realistic but its such a chore that could have been deleted out the game for better gameplay because i had instances where a posse attacks me online and alls i have is a varmint rifle and a shotgun and i need to get to my horse to get my sniper but every time i call it the players kill it because it spawns next to them so i cannot obtain my weapons and have to parley it would be a situation that could have been avoided if rockstar kept the old school formula then there is the horses getting scared of predators and bucking you off and yes i know its realistic horses in real life will do that but it ruins gameplay and makes the player more prone to getting killed by the animal because they have to get up from the fall off the horse and in red dead redemption 1 horses never got scared they just sat there and let the animals kill them which was far more better for the player but enough what the horses or this would be longer i also hate how in red dead redemption 2 alot of the weapon damage and accuracy has been nerfed because honestly i think they handled better in the first game with no bloom or cleaning or bullet sponge NPC. as for the story and stranger events its kind of weird because everything looks all new and fancy and weapons being customizable is a bit odd because in the first game you could not customize them pretty much everyone had the same looking weapons to show its a normal west world with the average guns that were used and alot of it dont make sense like how red dead redemption 2s universe has more rejection to racism which is hardly believable because in that timeline and even red dead redemption 1 they showed the reality of that time period and to see people punished for racism and looked down upon in 1902 is just weird and feels forced on from politics. im not saying people in the game should be slapped with whips and called names but to have arthur and the crew hate racism makes no sense because it would be the norm in that era and they handled it well without being rough in red dead redemption 1. i could go on and on but you get the point 2 of the games i like have the same name but at the same time are different from what they were trying to be and honestly im not hyped about gta 6 especially with how they handled these games, they just dont care about games anymore and i dont expect them to since half the original crew like dan houser and leslie benzie and lazlow jones left they been with the company for over 20 years and left in a 5 to 6 year span rapidly after gta 5 came out so i say this is a wounded company bleeding out fast at the moment.

Red dead 2 is its last good game

This was 2001 with it’s tech and limitation’s. The limit for Rockstar was the sky but nowadays it seems the limit is anything above bare minimum.

The reactions were there in the release version of the garbage edition too. You just had to hold the aim button. That was changed back to automatic in v1.04.

I remember GTA III being so fun back in day and I was looking forward to the remaster so much. Now I see it doesn't live up to the potential I expected out of Rockstar and I know they could have done way better. Guess I will pass and hope it gets a real remaster one day.

City's Atmosphere: In the OG it looks and feels like I shouldn't be there because I'd probably die the minute I walk on the streets! In the Def. Edition it looks and feels like I could move there to start anew!

Someone said Rockstar & Take-Two "NewCoke'd" the definitive edition. By releasing a defective product at full price and taking away the original trilogy, created a demand in the original trilogy, so they'll put the og trilogy back so people will buy more of that... like a bait and switch.

All these well thought, small details gave us such an immersive experience. You can really tell that there was so much effort and work going into this game. It was made with love. On the other hand, we have this dead, soulless remaster and its pure purpose is to make money. It’s a disgrace to the fans and to the people who made the original games. Anyone who was a kid back then (I was 11) knows what a groundbreaking game this was when we moved from the 2D GTA2 to a 3D open world experience. It was such an epic era to be alive. It’s really sad how they treated this classic game, it deserves so much more love🙁
