Love my Hyper P1! Let's go! I also have the MPX and agree with your thoughts on the grips of the P1. I love both, but also notice a slight pinch on the P1 given my admittedly large thumbs. Great review.

The Hyper P1 was my first wheel purchase and I absolutely love it. Have another GSI wheel arriving today! The functionality through SimHub is amazing. The spotter system running to the LEDs on the buttons is incredibly helpful during races. I’m so pumped to be adding another GSI wheel to my collection.

The encoder setting “On Release” enables them to be used with two layers, turn left & right, push+turn left & right, and push. Means you can use for instance one rotary for TC1 (turns), TC2 (push&turn), and TC toggle (push).

My issue is when I want to use the push left/right, it still actuates the push on release. So when I map a push function, I can't map a push left/right. E.g. I have change dash on push left/right and pause on push, so whenever I want to change the dash I pause the game

I’ve been using my P1 for a couple of months now, even as a VR only racer. The ergonomics and build quality alone made it worth the purchase, and with the new Hyper SL being announced without a screen, that might be the ideal wheel for me. I don’t see myself getting rid of this wheel, though. I have a Turn R320 with an Ascher box that I used while waiting on my P1 order, and still use for older cars and lower class GT cars, as well as a generic round wheel for rally/oval. Both of them are great for what they do, but pale in comparison to the P1. If it is within your means, absolutely give it a try. Although, GSI, if you’re reading, a rally button plate and perhaps some consideration to the SC2 wireless functionality would make me a customer for life

Wow, this steering wheel certainly catches the eye with its plethora of buttons, knobs, rotaries, and funky-switches! It’s quite impressive, but let’s be real here - I’d wager that about 90% of sim racers struggle to even use the 10-finger typing system on a keyboard. And now, we’re introduced to a wheel that sports almost as many controls. I find this both amusing and intriguing; who exactly is the target audience for this? Nevertheless, it does look fantastic. The quality appears top-notch, but honestly, it could be just as effective with half the number of buttons. It’s an interesting design choice, offering a unique blend of complexity and style, but it might be a bit overkill for the average user. 😉

I haven't tried the Ultimate yet, but it seems similar to the Artura Pro with a screen and Leds , which I have tested and reviewed. Choosing between the two could be challenging depending on your preferences. I personally prefer the button cap design on the Ascher wheels over the P1. On the Hyper P1, you can't change the caps or labels unless you customize it direct from GSI. I also appreciate the look and overall design of the Hyper P1. While I liked the paddles better on the P1, Ascher's new paddles are fantastic. The chunky grips on the Hyper P1 suit my preferences, but this is subjective as some people may not like them. Both wheels are great, and I believe you wouldn't be disappointed with either of them. Once I have the opportunity to review the Ultimate, I'll be able to make better comparisons to the Hyper P1.

What I am really searching for is a screen based wheel that would work both in open wheel iRacing and GT style racing in ACC and iRacing. So many different ones to choose from atm. I have looked at the Hyper, the Ascher, Cube Controls offerings. Not necessarily set on a screen display as getting a separate display unit could be a better go, esp when using a wheel in VR. My local Microcenter has the Pro Formula Elite gSI open box for $450 so was thinking that for GT, and then something else for open wheel haha… so many choices… Any recommendations on others to consider I am all ears.
