Continuing to redefine and reinvigorate the sound of trance and progressive music, Grum finally pulls back the curtain on ‘Deep State’, his brand new artist album out now on Anjunabeats.
Reflecting the unsettling times we live in, ‘Deep State’ has moments of light and dark. It’s a showcase of Grum’s ability to craft pitch-black progressive and immersive vocal pop. The 10-track album is a refined take on the current state of progressive trance.
With tinges of classic trance and 90’s rave culture across the record, Grum embraces vintage dance floor ideas in a thoroughly modern way. Acid-edged summer hit ‘Stay’ introduces Natalie Shay to the dance music world, also lending her voice to the anthemic LP closer ‘Afterglow’. ‘Running’ sees Grum partner with the soulful voice of London’s Jinadu, while Dom Youdan muses on the monotony of modern life with ‘Tomorrow’. ‘Home’, featuring Nicole Dash Jones, provides a deeper moment the mix, before the intensity of ‘Genesis’ and ‘Altered State’ take over.

4:15 and on = peer awesomeness. Hands down, this is the track of the year for me... and I’m not even really a grum fan. I enjoy the Oliver Smith kind of a sound. I loved the whole deep state album. Great job, grum

I actually found the melody in that section a bit boring and basic, just single notes not as well constructed or catchy as the first section of melody. On a whole the tune is great though.

@@Raidz-448 yeah first drop was better dont get me wrong it was nice to see some variation on the second drop. sometimes repeating the same drop like two o three times in a track can get a bit boring

Great track but I'm genuinely confused - is this supposed to be a tribute track to "Nalin and Kane - Open Your Eyes" or did he straight rip this? Someone educate me because it sounds like a remix or something.

I think the Insigma track is called Open Our Eyes, but some people mistakenly call it Open Your Eyes.
