What exactly were they standing for
@asherujudo7383
Жыл бұрын
@@ccdelaney8034 They were against the university's business with private prisons. Private prisons in the US are paid by the government to hold inmates. This incentivizes unfair convictions and sentences, primarily affecting people of color. As I understand it, the prison system in the country is very politically active, and is one of the main forces behind the government's decades long resistance to marijuana legalization because marijuana related offenses account for the overwhelming majority of incarcerated individuals in the US. If weed is legal, the prison population would drop drastically and therefore the prison business would struggle. That is what Aaron and his classmates were protesting against.
The best scene of the episode...the way he got his entire class to stand with him and even Professor Charlie. SALUTE✊

I love the fact that they played glory it's so in sync with what's happening, I'm glad he stands for what he believes in. Disgusting to think they could silence him with money.

I enjoyed this scene alot. I'm happy that Aaron is standing for what he believes in. Also, I found it funny the school could simply erase his debt like that. I wonder what they plan to do with him now that has graduted?

That background music was everything in this scene mind blowing !!!
i have to commend Aaron for standing up to those people. it's real disgusting to silence someone with money! the heck! fighting for what is right is real commendable. at least many of the students felt the same way.
Literally chills everywhere
Scene : Super Empowering Reality : Stand for something

Basically, the student's tuition money was used to finance private prisons. Aaron took notice of this, but they tried to bribe him in exchange for his silence. Which is what led to this scene. (I think I'm right; I don't religiously watch this show.)
I don't get why having investments in prisons is a bad thing.
@pimpking5000
3 жыл бұрын
Because it's a well known fact the many prisons but mainly private ones that tend to get these investments make money of others redirecting more people to jail with hefty sentences. Many aren't there to help. Many involved in sentencing are either invested or get kickbacks. And most of their target inmates are minorities. The money can be much better spent on addressing the real issues that helps land people in prison
@andres.6126

@@pimpking5000 the most notable part especially to Aaron in this case is they target minorities, they’re basically funding systematic racism and penitentiary Oppression.
This scene sent chills through my spine and tears in my eyes
