Growing Your Own Native Plants from Seeds

Growing Your Own Native Plants from Seeds Starts
Native plants are important for our local ecosystems and especially for our local pollinator populations. But, growing native plants from seed requires a bit of planning ahead.
Learn how to start native seeds now (yes, before winter!) using upcycled materials like plastic milk jugs and buckets so that your plants will be ready to go in Spring.
Led by by Greg Null, Assistant Director for Assessment and Accreditation, School of Medicine, University of Pittsburgh (& member Pitt's Pollinator Habitat Advisory Committee). An avid gardener, Greg has taught workshops on native rain garden design, construction, and maintenance.

I've been trying to grow medicinal native plants from seeds. You must have patience. I learned some things along the way. One is when starting is cells most sprout quicker and have a higher yield in coco coir mix but doesn't do well as they grow. So I'll put the coco coir on the top and use mostly seed starting mix next time.
