I totally can resonate with this especially as an American growing up with Haitian Parents. If I'm not getting bullied at school, I'm getting bullied at home. They expected me to be the stereotypical Haitian by going to parties all the time, visit relatives who I'm not close with, and only befriend or date Haitians. I personally broke this idiotic cycle when I realized that I don't like parties, I'm not close with my relatives, and no offense I don't like being around other Haitians because they think you're obligated to befriend them and do favors for them. I literally cursed out my father because I was dating a Jamaican woman and not a Haitian. I can't tell a lie, I like Jamaican women. Parents are your first bullies, it stopped when I started thinking for myself.

When I saw that video on Instagram I was really touched. This girl is so emotionally intelligent she has brought some great things to light. We have to do better than our parent. We have to provide the space for our children to express themselves and be vulnerable with us, Or else they will fall into the hands of others. Thanks for sharing this video, and your story.
