Brilliant idea! I think eventually the durian pioneers could use this method to grow much further south in hot houses with controlled environments. I really think that could be viable, the demand and value of durian's is exploding. I've heard some say Global demand for durian could go up 40% in the next 10 years.
Hurricane Maria destroyed all my exotic fruit trees. I feel like I put so many years of effort into these trees an this hurricane took them from me in a few hours. Its been 8 months since and I feel like I dont ever want to try any long term crops ever again. This Tatura trellis and this guy's story is starting to make me reconsider. Exotic fruit is what I love. I dont want to do anything else but there is no way I can afford to replant my trees and have another hurricane destroy everything all over again.

Fruit not timber is a very significant statement as many tropical fruit tree growers fail to get a good fruit set and excessive growth.

Awesome. Needed to know they can be trained well. Will be growing one in Melbourne using a heated environment. Love to see more videos and want to buy a grafted durian.
How tall do they grow their durian trees? I wasn't sure if he kept them short, or they just dont grow bigger using the trellis.

@@clumsy1333 The video by Lindsay Gasik was six years ago. There was no update by her since then. You said the durian ( on the same farm on Tatura trellis) fruited 2 years ago. Can anyone update with videos or photos of this durian plantation. Very exciting to see a novel approach to grow durian this way.

They do not have a lot of information about the durian but there are a couple videos showing them fruiting on the trellis.
