In this video, I show you the Canistel trees or Yellow Sapote that I started from seed and how they're growing in the Arizona Desert.

Bought many seeds from Fruit Lovers nursey. They have an awesome germination rate. I order canistel and they are starting to germinate. Really excited.

Evan Smith Awesome! Pretty much all my Canistel germinated! 3 are slowly growing in the ground and 1 in a container has grown a bit faster.

Thanks, I enjoy your tips and informative topics. I'm growing a Black Sapote (chocolate) in Tucson, AZ, zone 9b. It's 14 inches tall and I recently moved it outside in it's pot on the east side which offers morning sun and afternoon shade. It's doing well except that the cutter bees (??) are eating at a few of the upper leaves. In fact there are bites out of almost all the plants this year. What's up?

Barbara C Yeah those cutter bees can be a pain! I haven’t had as many issues with those this year. Have you ever tasted Black Sapote? I’ve never been able to try it.

@@gardenofluma9697 Hello again, I haven't tasted the chocolate, or for that matter, any sapote or pudding fruit. It sounds delicious so I'm giving it a go. If I can keep the various critters from eating the young tree I may have fruit in a year or two. Fingers crossed. I am getting better at making cages for the many young trees I'm growing. I really enjoy watching you and your fruit tree garden is amazing.

Whereabouts in AZ? We're down in the high desert near Sierra Vista / Ft. Huachuca. So far we have had mixed results that required a bit of experimenting since our high desert winter nights can get surprisingly cold.

Hello, how are you, greetings from Jujuy Argentina, here this fruit does not exist, but I would be interested in being able to plant it. I wanted to ask you until the temperature resists because here the weather in winter reaches -1 centigrade and I don't know if it resists that temperature. I would appreciate it if you can comment, since the information on the canistel is little. Greetings
