    Here in Texas we grow aloe vera and we just cut a leaf and squeeze some of the gel on the bottom of the cutting for rooting hormone.

    So if I have some seeds that I just started. They are small plants at the moment. Can I mix some of my aloe gel with water and water them that way? Will that help their root growth?

    That I do not know, as I understand it the iacetylsalicylic acid in the aleo is the ingredient that stimulates growth. There are KZread videos that address using aleo.

    No light and bottom heat for rooting cuttings....roots should be warmer than the top temperature or they waste their energy making leafs....good stuff

    I hope you try a Gogi berry . I planted mine a year ago. This year i got lots of fruit here in 5b zone in below zero already , ontario. The fruit is small but so many on a branch. I will try cuttings if it survives its second winter.

    Not the Head Cheese, but you can plant anything under a pine. I've planted under pine, cedar, for, spruce, and everything has worked great, in part because I "Back to Eden" everything I plant with woodchip mulch.

    I don’t think figs we’ll grow here but I don’t like the fruit any way. But I do have about 30 mulberry seeds I’m going to try and start in the spring. I’m going to grab some Willow branches as support trees because they grow ten feet per year. I’ve got a bunch of black locust seeds also

    when I was selecting nitrogen fixers for my perma culture orchard i kept running into info online that claimed redbuds do not fix nitrogen. I know that you guys choose your trees very intentionally, so i wanted to ask...are redbuds as effective at fixing nitrogen as locusts and silver berry?

    How well do the cuttings root? Do you need to add rooying hormones?

  • @PermaPasturesFarm21

    @PermaPasturesFarm21

    It depends on so many factors, but generally, I always use root hormone.

    I have found that rooting hard wood cuttings is challenging; I have a low rate of success. Using a rooting hormone will increase that success rate. I started 15 Pakistan mulberry hard wood cuttings yesterday and expect 1/3 to 1/2 to grow to trees. But my cost is "zero" dollars for every tree I get.

    No. And keep them out of the direct sun. The cutting do not need any light until after they make leaves.
