I'm in Houston and use grow bags for almost everything right now. I have had horrible luck with the black bags becoming mini ovens, but tan bags are available in most sizes. They cost a few cents more each but it isn't a large amount. The tan ones are much, much better in terms of not drawing in so much heat and my water needs have been very reasonable.

I wouldn't fertilize them quite as much. Last year, I followed your tips and found that I got lots of leaves but fewer fruit on my peppers in grow bags. This year, I'm adding granular fert about once in _6 weeks,_ and liquid fert about monthly. Stockier plants, greater yield.

I learned the hard way that topping puts your peppers back a month or two. I do remove the bottom leaves, they tend to grow upwards after I do. Btw, there's videos on KZread of fireworks for dogs to get them adjusted to it and there's Thunderstorm videos. I did that with my dog and she would sleep through thunderstorms and fireworks. I did the same thing with babies crying and she had no reactions to loud baby crying either.

The Millennial Gardener I just found you and LOVE you! I was a young child in elementary school Garden Club and now retired and getting back to it! I've watched a lot of videos but you have been the one I am able to understand the best. You are very thorough and have been SO very helpful. Just watched your pepper & tomatoes vids. Learned a lot and ran right outside to prune the tomatoe. ALMOST was going to prune the pepper plant but decided not to after listening to your reasons no need to. I also made a list of fertilizer products I def need. Again - thank you! SO glad I found you! And I told my daughter in law to check you out as she is just getting into gardening. Bye for now from Northern Michigan

I found myself using about 8 gallons of water for all my pepper and other vegetable plants, so I switched to a hose-end sprayer to apply the solution. Its much easier. Here in west central Florida, with the extra heat, I water 3 times a week on an automated water system and then once a week, I apply the fertilizer solution over the bone meal and granular fertilizer, but I have to be careful with too much fertilizer due to the heat, so I usually prep the plants in good soil with bone meal added, then just use the liquid application every two weeks. My over-wintered peppers usually produce in Spring, then the newer plants come on, so it's like succession sowing.

Hey... long time lurker first time commenting... I live in a side by side duplex with very little yard, and what yard I have is very shaded by big trees. We've been growing in grow bags and containers for a couple years now, placing them in the areas that get the most sun, like our driveway. This is the first year we've tried peppers and they are doing AMAZING! We live in Nova Scotia, Canada and have been having torrential rain followed by scortching sun, so those in ground gardens of my neighbours are not faring as well as our container/grow bag garden. Thanks so much for all your information, I've learned so much that I've put into practice from watching your channel. I appreciate your knowledge. :)

You can get dale something called a "thunder vest or lighting vest" I forget which one it's called but you put it on your pup when it's gonna storm and it's comforting to the dog. My daughter had to dog sit a friend's dog for a couple weeks that got really scared during storms, she would tear up her crate and bust out. The dog was a pittie that was terrified of storms. I told her to get this vest for the dog and it worked. She would sleep right through the storm or just lay down . The owner was so happy I figured out what to do about the nervous energy the dog got during storms because she had once had to replace a bathroom door the dog chewed through while she was out running errands. Also I think it has something to do with the electricity in the air or the barometric pressure dropping.

1:07, I definitely had fun watering my bell peppers twice a day during the summer last year. Even watering them a lot in the morning just wasn't enough to keep their leaves from drooping later on in the afternoon. I just heard you mentioning the pepper plants are perennials; I realized that when my three peppers were still producing into January until I had a light freeze that destroyed them. They would otherwise still be alive right now.

It's been a strange year, for western PA and much of the north east, thanks to the wildfires in Canada. We spent much of June and early July with air quality warnings and a persistent haze. On the down side, many of my "hot weather plants" have been slow growing, but on the plus side, my "cold weather crops" are still going strong. I'd been giving my containered peppers the water soluble fertilizer, but hadn't thought about the solids. I'll start doing that more frequently.

Thank you for that information because I thought my pepper plants stop growing doing the winter. Now I know. Right now I'm just waiting for my new seeds to come in. Thanks again again

Thanks for the video. Went out and fertilized my pepper plants after watching this. I started growing them in pots last year, protected from the cold and they are now some of my favorite plants and started a few more from seeds this year. Could you do a video about transplanting older potted pepper plants and do you do root trimming? Thanks again! I've been able to keep my fig trees alive with your help too (lots of water and mulch) Tucson, AZ

I like your videos, I grow my bell peppers in 6gal containers and fertilize with fish emulsion once a week. They do great every year, I have 8 plants total and I picked over 20 this past Saturday.

Thank you Anthony, very helpful advice as l am currently growing indoor Cayenne and Carolina Reapers for the first time. I wanted to let them grow the way they like and you have helped to confirm my instincts. I will add that l intend to powder the Reapers into empty supplementary capsules because l am a little concerned about eating them. Thank you for sharing and best wishes. Jason from Melbourne Australia. PS. I hope l have your name correct. My apologies if l don't.

My Lab/Husky mix dog hated thunderstorms and fireworks. He would never be at ease until I found by putting him in a bathroom with no windows in the middle of the house, turn on the exhaust fan, put in a radio then turn the light off and close the door and all was fine when the storms were gone or the fireworks were over. Afterwards he would come out, wag his tail, follow me around the house and outside to go to the bathroom and every now and then he would get a treat if he wanted one. The storms and fireworks have a high pitched sound most dogs hear and get upset about. Drown out the sound and all is good.

Awesome information. Love your style of delivery! Just started to garden this year. I put 3 chili pepper plants in 2G containers. They haven't been growing as much as I'd hope. I think I made the container mix TOO DENSE. The water gets logged in even though the drainage is OKAY but I think they'd prefer something airy. I also cut off two lower branches to propagate and they're not doing so hot. I think I should have left them on the main plant! My tomatoes are doing fair however! I will learn for next year. Thank you for the videos!

Peppers do fantastically well in containers. I'm guessing the stress of the container forces fruiting. I'm growing a cherry pepper in a pot that's 4 years old. It fruits for me all winter long.

You can also grow them under grow lights in the winter, indoors. I lower the Nitrogen fertilizer once they start flowering and increase the Phosphorus. I've had mine for over 3 years and every two years, in the spring, I change out the soil and trim the roots. They seem to love it.
