I know you posted this months ago, but just for anyone else who sees this and wants to do the same-the bags in this video are fabric bags meaning they’re breathable. This lets excess moisture drain or even evaporate from the bag. With a dog food (or fully plastic) bag, you don’t have any kind of ventilation going on so it’ll end up growing mold/the water will be stagnant for too long

I bought some potato bags, vermiculite and top soil. I planted the potatoes, green stems shot up,i put in more top soil,3 times. When the plant started to die and turn yellow i harvested only 3 potatoes. One was the size of a fat grape and the other 2 the size of a pea. I wasnt going to give up,so i tried again. Same thing. Apparently potatoes arent that easy to grow.

@sierrajade63 Another important thing to remember is that potatoes can be indeterminate or determinate, so if determinate, there is no need to hill, but only hill indeterminate other wise the plant is wasting energy growing vines when it should be growing potatoes.

Try to use potash fertilizer and make sure they are always watered...it takes alot of energy to grow tubers and they need special fertilizer to help. Also don't use regular store potatoes, they are sprayed with anti growth chemicals. You should try again!

You can use mulch straw after the potatoes are growing and they dont get green and they are clean and mulch retains water.
