This is a wonderful comparison between pinched and non-pinched amaranth. The copious photos really made it clear, thanks for making it.

I absolutely love your grow-a-longs!! I stumbled upon them when searching for how to’s on multiple flowers and find yours so thorough, detailed, & clear. Love the comparisons, seed- to - flower stages and how they look in the garden (the entire plant) and suggestions for where to plant. Thank you so very much!! I wonder if you could tell me if fertilizing amaranth can cause leaf discolouration and what type of fertilizer is safe, is it necessary, etc. I’ve noticed in the past some discolouration on my Joseph’s coat seedlings so I avoid fertilizing. The precious fertilizer I used was a seaweed emulsion probably quarter strength and this year I accidentally set my tray of Green Thumb in fish fertilizer infused water- weak though it was, it still caused the leaves to discolour & some to fall off 🤧 they’re recovering but I think it is the fertilizer. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks again!

To be honest I have not seen any problems with feeding any plants, it could be the one you are using my be too strong? Check the dilution rate xxx

@@zoewoodwardgardening thank you for responding. I will double check and maybe do one seedling - see the effect and then proceed with the rest of it appears safe! Thanks again!

Great info, thank you for sharing your wisdom! I was wondering if you could tell me which variety are you growing in the middle of the garden. With the brown/tan coloured blooms they’re not cascading but seem like they may be upright? I’ve purchased the coral cascade only at this stage and grow some others for leafy greens but I’m interested in the brown colour for neutral palette flower arrangements 🤩🤩🤩

I don’t cook them but you can. If eating then stick to organic sprays like soft soap, the RHS have one that’s available easily online xxx

Will they flower again after you've picked stems from the plant or do you have to grow successions?

@@zoewoodwardgardening they already came up after 5 days in the house😅 loads of them... I sowed thinly in trays as per packet instructions but I think that gives way too much😂
