I had seen this before, but reviewed it again before I did a volunteer shoot for families dealing with cancer. I made portraits for all comers. One family arrived with 19 members, ranging in age from infants to middle aged. Fortunately, there was just enough light left outside before sunset, so I piled them up on a picnic table between a couple of trees, backlit by the sunset, and used a large Profoto umbrella on a B10-Plus to fill. Then we moved inside and I squeezed them in front of a 12-foot wide Savage paper backdrop, but of course, the light stands and edges were showing because of the wide angle lens I had to use. I will either leave them in or use Photoshop to remove them. This is a long way of saying thanks again for making this video. It helped a great deal.

Saw Joe in Kansas City some years ago…what a showman for Nikon and the whole photo community. Fun and very personable.

Nice! I've been following Joe for many years and have his Speedlight guides/books. I'm right there with him in the thinking that you need to get really good gear as it will be with you through many camera bodies. I'm also still using the D5 even though the D6 has come out. I'm impressed that he uses it for studio large groups. The SB-5000 units are also great, but if you're shifting between stills and video, know that they have fans in them that run well past the exposure so you'll have to wait them out for video due to the noise. We still use sets of the SB-910 units as they are silent. Nice workshop demo, great stuff as always! Great lighting makes all the difference.

Correct me if I’m wrong but possibly one of the only studio lit group tutorials on you tube.

I've been watching Joe for years, he does many different types of photography and very good at what he does. My wife and I work together in photography and video and if you don't love it you won't last. Do it because you love it, not for the money. Thank you Joe for all the years of inspiration, you are one of my giants in life.

I shoot Nikon also, but I'm stuck with my SB5000 and Godox V1 speedlights due to lack of $. For me the V1 is more useful then the Nikon. Need >$!
