For anyone having trouble with shared worlds Let’s say myself hosts a game then share it , we play for an hour then you save it, he wants to play while your offline or sleep, he has to go to host game and put the passcode in then your all set, then when you want to join him instead of going to host game like before you go to join online game PS: you basically swapped host positions , and also it could be a different passcode so communication is key

Pure speculation, but I'd guess this "Home Stretch" update releases next week. With them just now introducing shared worlds, I'd assume they'll be giving it as much time for testing as possible. I'd look for update launch next week & of course 1.0 full release coming soon on September 27th.

As for now, it's free. I don't see it being a cost based option either. It addresses the fact that only one person could host a world & if they weren't on, you couldn't play, but it doesn't address the issues that multiplayer has, the lag, desyncing, & everything else still exists. It's their attempt at dedicated servers without actually having dedicated servers.

I have a question if My mate Tom shared his world with me and i wanted to go on said world alone do i have to be hosting Multiplayer or can i go in normally? I ask because online has no pause feature

You can host the shared world & play solo or multiplayer. Your progress will be saved to that particular world. If you want your own version of that world to continually play solo, you'll have to create a standard copy of that world which will then be your own copied solo world.

Absolutely! You can even create a copy of the shared world for solo play.

I still can't get this system to work. I have a shared world with 2 people. It says it is shared with them. I continue to play solo until they log in. Whenever I host, invite them, they can't even find the lobby or join. Get some error. When one of them host, i can see the lobby, but it is yet another different save point from mine. Triple checked it as multiplayer shared world . This is such an overcomplicated thing.

Are you all loggen into your Xbox accounts as well? As dumb as it is.

The problem I am having with this system is that when we all logged out of our shared world, the copy I had was not at the point where we actually logged out. I am so confused. Did the host have to save and reshare before leaving?

A shared copy is a different copy than the actual shared world if thst makes sense. Two different saves technically. You may have logged into the copy & that's why it shows a different progress in game. It's all kind of confusing.

@@OriginalRyan Yea it is weird. WE were playing. We logged out near the pod. Minutes later, I hosted a multiplayer game using that shared world and it has us in the hedge. I am thinking that it doesn't save to the cloud or something if you don't manually save. Puts you at the last auto save. You would think that when you logged out, everyone would access the shared world at the point you logged out, barring anyone saving something new. IF not, it seems kind of useless.

It should auto save upon logging out. I've not messed with shared worlds a ton so I can't be too helpful, but from what I did see from them, they saved for all players.

You got any ideas on how to stop disconnecting from host in multiplayer? Out of 4 people only person that doesn’t get kicked is the host of the world and happens every 5 or so minutes

I've no idea then. Those are what I'd try as well. I'd check the Grounded discord to see if anyone has encountered the same issue & found a solution.

Unrelated question. If you log in to the pts with a save game you can't go back and play the game outside the pts right? But will my saved game work when the update is out? Or will my save game always be linked to the pts? Do you understand what I'm trying to ask?

If you join the PTS or not, once the update is released & you download it, every 0.14 change will be effective on your save. If you join the PTS, your game will download the PTS/Update as it is, in public testing. Same thing happens, when the update releases, your game that's been participating in the PTS will require you to download the update. Your save, whether you join the PTS or not will need to download the update for all added content. Basically your save will be regulated after the update releases & you download the update. Does that answer your question? Tried to make sense lol.

I can, I'm still messing around with things basically trying to break it so I'll try to do a more extensive video covering how to backup personal saves, shared saves, etc. as soon as I've got a better idea as to what is actually capable/possible & what isn't.

I shared my world and my mate then hosted the share of my world and then I joined him and we got about 3hrs of progress we then logged out and next day I logged in and it wasn’t up to where we was last

It could be an auto save issue, but most likely, he can't share a shared world of yours if that makes sense. He can't then share that world as if it were his own to share, although that is the intended use. I'd report the issue & hope for resolution.

How do you make a shared world . I can't create a shared world here on ps just lets me solo or multiplayer.

You should be able to click on the "share world" button. You may have to do it from the multiplayer menu though. Try logging into your world in the multiplayer setting & see if it'll allow it.

I'm not 100% sure, but I'd guess that you can since it is an option for all game saves I believe.

Double check the world you're trying to share. I believe, but I'm not 100% sure, that some worlds can't be shared.

Just invite them to play through a normal multiplayer game & it will share the file with them. A shared "copy" is just if anyone wants to have that particular shared world as their own. To share worlds, it has to be done through online multiplayer.

Very unfortunate type of "always up" system to go with, would have heavily preferred dedicated/self hosted.

The system they use isn't the issue, the multiplayer connectivity needs to be improved if they can do it.

yh I would much prefer it to be always be live - active. I suppose this is why they’re free. I do hope they add dedicated servers for Worlds tho. I would like them to be free, but if we do have to pay then it’s understandable.

Yep! Anything done in the shared world will be available to anyone who joins it after being shared.

It honestly shouldn't have been introduced yet as it still has issues causing crashes. All I can suggest is to report it & hope they fix it again.

Should have the option on the save/load menu. Make sure you're logged into the multiplayer to do so & it should be there.

Load your personal save in multiplayer, then select it to share it. All shared worlds need to be done through multiplayer.

The devs shouldn't have done only this. Seriously it should've been like owning a minecraft relm but free.
