Ground Hunting Seat Options

I discuss the pros and cons of various ground hunting seats including a couple of my favorites. If you are thinking about trying to hunt more on the ground using natural cover this video should help you figure out what type seat you want.
The following are links where you can read more about the options discussed in this video:

Nice review. I use the Millennium tree seat that straps to a tree. Most comfortable chair I have. I can sit for hours.

I'm 6ft 1" 320lbs and I've hunted out of a double bull archery 3 legged stool like the first one in the video for around 5 years. It is light weight and worked rather well. It's actually not that uncomfortable especially if you set next to a tree where you can lean back on 2 legs and rest on the three. I purchased the Millennium G100 last season and it is an excellent chair. Very comfortable and silent swiveling. It should last a very long time since it is made out of aluminum and the fabric is UV resistant. I've had their boat seat for 3 years and it has been exposed to the sun every single day and it is still in excellent condition. $200 is pricey for a chair but the G100 is worth it in my opinion, especially for big guys. It is rated for 400lbs.

I'm a fan of the hammock seat too. Not only is it light and compact (I strap mine to the bottom of my pack), but it is also the cheapest. And I really like the way you can sort of swivel in it if necessary. I normally put a foam pad in the bottom of if to help keep me warm. Again... great video both in terms of content and production.

Another option that I really like that would be used like the Millennium chair is the Chama Chair. It is very quiet and packs a little smaller than the Millennium. Great video. I am glad you are making more content. Keep them coming.

Thank you so much for this video. I have the hammock seat and will be bow hunting public land this year. I was on the fence and thought I would need another seat until I found your video. Enjoyed seeing you simulate bow hunting positions.

The updated seat from Fanatic Outdoors is called the "Low Down" which has a twin pole design. Very stable, comfortable and quiet.

  • @mdees88

Just bought the low down hammock seat with the twin pole design. I'm 6'1" 320 and it is very comfortable and not as noisy as I thought. I own a double bull 3 legged stool, a millineum g100 (my favorite), and now the low down hammock seat. The weight and size savings over the millenium is a huge advantage and update after I use it more this year. So far I highly recommend it...

@@TraditionalOutdoors I took up ground hunting this year for the first time and mainly just sat on the ground. I migrated to a small turkey chair I had in the closet and it did well but that hammock is smaller and more compact. I killed a buck Sunday from the ground blind where it wouldn’t have worked as I tucked into a cut over pile.

$320 is ridiculous for any seat . Plenty of options out there if a man can think outside of the box. A simple metal folding chair with the back legs cut off works. A $15 folding barstool from Wal mart works, saw the legs to desired length. I made my own like a milking stool with one leg, works great. I have a Millennium seat that straps to a tree that is the most comfortable. Good video.

Have you thought about/looked at chairs that might be better that are specifically made for hunting? I’ve been looking at some low to the ground camping chairs. I hunt a lot of WMA and walk in a long ways some times and need something super versatile and lightweight. There are times where I don’t know if there will be a tree where I want to sit, or brush. So a stand alone seat sounds like the smart option, but can’t be heavy, and I already have a pack I use so also needs to be light weight and packable so I can attach it to my pack.
