Wie schön doch Berlin war! Bevor die Bomben fielen. Schöne Musik von Adalbert Lutter sehr passend! Vielen Dank fürs Hochladen
Vynikající hudba A. Luttera, nádherné časy, úcta, láska, charakter, morálka...

I play this video and feel happy....
Herrlich!!!
Great song from Germany! Thanks for sharing!😍💘👍👍👍🍀🍀🍀
Fascinating sights and sounds of a Berlin that once was...before war, air raids and division changed this remarkable city forever!

Herrliche Einstellung! Und so schöne Bilder. Gute Stimmung gleich gekommen. Danke!
Thank you Leotaurus for this excellent collection. The combination music and sight seeing Berlin is very impressive. Your video is an important item to my collection
Wunderbar!
Magnifiques images, merci!
All my favorite songs from this period in one place! Thank you!!
Thank you so very much for this gorgeous footage of Berlin and equally marvelous Big Band music from before the Second World War, which forever destroyed and hid evidence of these gems for decades. Regardless of any conflict, beautiful architecture and music are also lost, along with countless lives, each with a story. Let's celebrate what once was and hopefully bring it back to living memory with this lovely music and these wonderful films. Many thanks for opening yet another area of interest for me.

Bruce B Chin Every time I see pre-war Berlin movies, I cringe. Berlin seemed so perfect. Then when I see Alexanderplatz in the Jason Bourne movies with the cheesy precast concrete infrastructure crumbling, I could puke. Germany was ascendant, Britain turning into what? America projecting a giant market all over Europe if only they could get rid of the pesky German industrial juggernaut. Seventy years of foreign troops garrisoned in Germany. What do you think?

There is another Berlin now, of course. And it will have it's history and memories, too. But all this is lost, just surfaces now and then in footage like this. Unique and rare. Thank for for sharing it.
The last song was popular in the USA as well, especially the version by the Andrews Sisters, with the title "Ferryboat Serenade": "I love to ride the ferry / Where people are so merry / There's a man who plays the concertina / On the moonlit upper deck arena / While boys & girls are dancing / While sweethearts are romancing / Life is just a mardi gras; funiculi funicula! / Happy, we sing together / Happy, we cling together / Happy, in the ferryboat serenade!"
TRES BEAU DOCUMENT...
what an amazing city before the war... never to raise again.
Absolutely great music and viewing - really enjoying my new subscription.
einmalig!!!!!!!! Viele Grüße
Aaaaach....was WAR Berlin doch schöööööön .

High summer, probably 1939 when everybody knew what was coming and tried not to think of it. It affects us because we know what happened even as we enjoy this beautiful and evocative music.

Superb video and potpourri!

Leo, it's superb! You say the film footage is from your personal collection. Can you tell us more? 16mm? 35mm? Promotional? City-sponsored? Thanks so much for the audio and the film clips.
nice videos

What a loss of beauty and culture, real class, all blown to hell the result of faulty thinking behind delusional foreign policy. Paradise lost, oh the horror !
GUT!

Yes, Haus Kempinski became Haus Vaterland. Then it became a burned-out ruin in East Berlin that wssn’t demolished for decades.
El bello berlina antes del salvajismo aliado
Its a shame the road Germany was on by this point. I hope history doesn't repeat itself today although there are similarities in other countries now.

His sausage-bin is labelled "Koschnitz Riesen-Bockwurst" but that's it. One wonders how much weight he would have lost during the war and its aftermath.
woderful music and totale Verdummung. But it looks nice
Kotz
