LordDaelinProudmoore Very sorry I got to your comment so tardily. "Schützenvereine" are basically traditional towns-watch regiments. This parade is (I myself do not know in which part of Germany this takes place and what exactly is the tradition) probably meant for entertainment. The "Schützenkönig" is basically -the best shooting- ceremonial leader of such a "Schützenverein".

It takes places in North-Rhine-Westfalen(?) (NRW) Its the City Neuss near Cologne. Its just a part of Neuss the real "Neusser Schützenfest" is in August with 7.000 people marching in one regiment I hope that answer helps you :)

Sorry to disturb. I don't understand what is the motivation of this parade. Who is Johannes II? Former ruler in ancient german state??? Please explain me. And who of this peoples correspond to His Majesty.

Die Neusser können es einfach! Respekt an die Musikkapelle die Stechschritt geht.... andere können sich eher schämen. Bin selber Kleinenbroicher Schütze und muss echt sagen das ich von Kaarst enttäuscht! Stechschritt ist,bei uns zumindest, normal :)
