    Finally a groomer with patience and who knows what she's doing. I've been watching many American groomer who just shave the dogs and that's it. And it all has to go fast because the next one is waiting. Dogs get upset, are stressed etc. In this video you see how it SHOULD be done.

    Miniature Schnauzers are such amazing calm loving dogs. Our Dog after 14 long years unfortunately passed a few years back. He was amazing, always protecting while i was a little little child, He was always there to guard gently. He would sit under my crib and look for anyone that came in. When my dad would take me somewhere in the house The dog followed right behind. Amazing little dogs and the cutest things ever.

    How do you do a Mixed male Schnauzer Shih zuh ? He is 9, has very long hair straight on sides and curly hair on head, tail, Mixed legs. Hes just handsome and loves baths and brushing, combing. He does get matted very easily which I'd like to remedy if possible for him. He is a Rescue and such a loving boy. Also I am wondering what about black nails? His coat colors are black with cream brows and feet & underskirt, hints of grey. Thank you..

    BarefootwalkingGypsy Timm the best thing to do is trim him short and give yourself a fresh start if he’s matted, then to keep him from getting matted you need a slicker brush without any rubber or plastic balls on the brush it should be sharp, and a greyhound comb and brush before and after bathing, you can also just brush without a bath which I would recommend doing at least once a week, also if he gets wet outside if it’s raining or anything he needs to be dried and brushed because when dogs get wet they get matted and old matts getting wet get tighter

    Hello Angela. It was very nice waching you working with the dog, I resenly got a Snauzer puppy, medium one and was worrying about that striming, so it was calming to see that it doesnt hurt for the dog. still, its hard for me to decide rather I prefer a striming or clipping: the most important thing for us is that the dog wont shed becouse my husband is allergic, and thats the reason we got a Shauzer dog. but, at the other hand, I personally prefer a softer feir and brighter as well, so for that matter, the clipping is better. so, the question is, if triming makes the dog not to shed? and clipping cause shedding? Hopping for a conclusion ,and thanks alot for the precious knowledge, especially since cliping is irreversible.

    A FULL blood Schnauzer does not shed no matter how they are trimmed. They do not have fur but have hair and is the reason they need to be groomed every 6 weeks. Dogs that have fur do not have to be trimmed and the fur falls out as new fur comes in. I also am allergic to dog fur and have no problems with my Schnauzers even when I groom them.

    Anyone know if you can still strip if the breeder clipped the dog already? Wondering if since it was just one time it's possible to still get the double coat? If so, how would you go about it?

  • @mariahetszaz8567

    It could be possible but I cannot assure you. A (good) groomer could tell you for sure as you need to FEEL the coat to know if it can be done. But if you are willing to do a try (only 3-4 longer hair strings) I think you can determine too. It shouldn't feel very soft to the touch, and if you pull one string and it comes out easily just as for example your eyebrow would with an eyebrow teaser (not forced too much), than it can still be done. I have had a dog in my salon this summer who is 10 years old and he was CLIPPED every summer (only once in a year, so 9 times probably) and I could very easily hand strip him. But other times there are puppies who even born with not so ideal coats for hand stripping (even if they should be according to their breed description) with no prior clipping. Best of luck with your puppy! :)

    I’m confused, if you’re not clipping the back, how do you get the style with the skirt? I had two schnauzers growing up and if my parents didn’t get them groomed their hair would get really long and messy and gross lol so if the blade doesn’t cut the hair, how does it not grow out?

  • @mariahetszaz8567

    @mariahetszaz8567

    The long hairs are pulled out. Dogs with these kind of fur have wire coats which (when reaching a certain point) can be pulled out without any pain caused to the dog. The ones you pull out will be replaced by another strings after about 4 weeks. This way (if you roll the coat as the lady said) you can maintain a short coat without causing bald patches, cause you always take out the long hairs to make place for new (and of course shorter) strings.

  • @txva1295
    @txva12954 жыл бұрын

    I'm confused - she says she stripping the dog, but since she's using the toothed edge of the blade, is she actually carding instead of stripping? I was under the impression that stripping involved the non-serrated edge of the knife and pulling with the hair between the non-serrated edge and your thumb/finger.

  • @bidensdaughter

    @bidensdaughter

    4 жыл бұрын

    Stripping knives have those teeth to trap and pull the coat between the knive and thumb. Stripping involves either just fingers with the little condoms, stripping knives or stones and removes the top coat while carding knives/blades remove the dead undercoat.

  • @lyreparadox

    @lyreparadox

    My understanding is that carding and stripping use the same tools, but the technique determines whether you're pulling undercoat or topcoat.

    Evelyn Roman it is possible but not likely your dog will tolerate it. Rather than cutting the hair with a blade you are now pulling out the hair from the follicle. Most hand stripped show dogs start the grooming practice at only a few weeks old.

    Yes and no. I had a mini Schnauzer in the early nineties, we did neither clip ears nor tail and for the first two years of her being with us, we did nothing but comb her coat. She looked like a yeti, not like a Schnauzer. We were not told by the breeder what to do with her coat. So her tail had long flowy texture, too. First time at the groomers, they shaved her everywhere except face. She looked like a completely different dog. Her dad was black, mom was salt and pepper. After clipping her coat, she was grey/blue. And the tail looked so thin. We decided to not do this again, and since she was not showing, it did not really matter.
