Dean really struggled with only having $5 and couldn’t grasp why I wouldn’t just give him more money. This was a very good lesson for him.

It is one thing to teach them about budgeting but you also need to teach them about nutrition. Those frozen pizzas can be high fat amd high salt. And if a kid wants something a little too expensive, they can tea, up with one sibling. If they want hamburgers for sample, one kid could get fresh hamburger meat and another cam diet fresh potatoes for fresh French fries healthier than frozen and in budget if they share.

How did the kids handle everyone cooking their own seperate meals? That must have been quite a line up at the microwave to cook their dinner.

Shopping is difficult, especially on a strict budget. It gets better the more you practice. 🙂

I can't remember ever getting such a good deal for bananas!! Such a great exercise to teach valuable and necessary life skills.

A great trip for the kids but I think Jacob needed some advice on getting other things to get an all round meal.

The bananas didn’t last long enough for banana bread, they were gone in 3 days.
