You are allowed to work as a student in Slovakia (but that also depends on your visa). Minimum wage in Slovakia depends on the type of job you do. The lowest you can currently get is 623€ for cleaners etc. but if you do something that requires some skills and more responsibility, your minimum wage can't be that low and it will be between 739€ - 1203€ (it all depends on the type of job you do). You can easily find a job if you don't speak Slovak, especially in major cities but you will more likely have to work in the office and they will pay you more than the minimum wage. Many tech/IT companies have their offices in Slovakia (Dell, HP, Amazon, AT&T, Lenovo etc. etc.). There is also shortage of IT workers so if that is something you can do, it should be easy for you to find a job. I was offered a job in AT&T and their only requirement was fluent English :). My friend was working in the office in Bratislava and she was the only one speaking Slovak in their team, her colleagues were all from other countries so they only spoke English. Even Slovaks working in offices in Slovakia must be able to speak English, that's usually the first requirement in these international companies. Also, you don't have to worry about getting paid less just because you are a foreigner, that is illegal in Slovakia. You will always get paid the same as your colleagues if they do the same job as you. Your country of origin/gender/religion/sexuality will never affect your pay. (These laws are very strict in Slovakia). When it comes to using public transport or simply getting around, all websites and ticket offices are in Slovak/English and often in German too. When you are in a supermarket, you can use self checkout and just switch to English, there is always that option on the screen, same with ATMs, ticket kiosks etc. My bank in Slovakia automatically sends me emails in Slovak and English, I don't know if they have to do it but all of them do it like that now. It makes it easier for people from other countries living in Slovakia.
