GROCERY SHOPPING IN CANADA: Shopping at Metro

#groceriesincanada #shoppingvlog #andreathesagirl
In this video I take you on a tour of basic food items and their prices at the Metro store so that you can compare them to your prices in your country. Fruit, bread, meat, fish, butter, milk, cheese, toilet paper, dish washing liquid, peanut butter, coffee and tea, to mention a few.
Of the many reasons I love to visit this store, like their awesome self check out machines, the main reason would be because of the very friendly and helpful staff. I make special mention of the store managers, Donald, Peter and Brandon. Go and visit this store and see what I mean.
Today I visited the Metro store on Rebecca & Third Line, Oakville.
DISCLAIMER: Please note that this video was recorded before store hours, to avoid contact due to COVID-19. At 7 a.m., as the store opened, we wore masks and stuck to the guidelines as per the store and the general COVID-19 rules.

I worked at Metro for many years and prior to that when it was A&P Metro IS way too expensive, especially now. If in Canada places to shop and save actual money is Walmart , NO Frills, Freshco, Food Basics. Know your prices, check the unit price but Metro , Zehrs and Sobeys has always been a higher end store on the food chain.

I'd say don't dismiss KD (Kraft Dinner macaroni and cheese) until you've tried the regular cheese (not the sharp cheddar). I grew up on the stuff as a child! I'm pretty sure Coke on sale (at IGA in Quebec) is usually 2 for $2.50 (so, 4 for $5.00) - actually, it's currently on sale this week at 99 cents each, so 4 for $3.96!

You have to be so careful about the quality of the "cheaper cheese" here. If you spend a little more on the expensive cheese, the flavor and quality will usually go further and you won't use as much which will actually cut cost in the long run. I had to teach my husband this as well and now he understands completely what I mean.

Wow, looking at the cleaning products and fresh food produce, Canada is way more expensive than some of the European countries. All depends on what you earn in Canada. I lived in Canada before, so there are also many downsides to this place. Glad we are back in Europe, because it is quite central. I visit Cape Town, South Africa once a year. Somehow, people always 'forget' to tell you how cold and miserable it is in Canada during Winter. Very unpleasant from my point of view. Depression, snow shovelling, black ice, treacherous driving conditions....slipping and sliding and temperatures can soar to -40 degrees Celsius. Very short Summers and mosquitos biting you in Summer. It is certainly not everyone's cup of tea to emigrate to Canada. But 'good luck' to you.

  • @AndreavanNiekerk

I hear you Walter! Also depends on where you live in Canada….. on the weather issue. Then some of us come over with not caring about weather when safety and security is your driving factor if you’ve experienced violence. It’s great that you have the option to live in a place you love- so so great! Some people actually love winter!!!! Weird to think I know!!! I appreciate your comments because they are honest. Jesus Christ saves come to him and repent and follow him today today is the day of salvation tomorrow might be to late heaven and hell is real John 3:16-21 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
