In the wake of the horrific Tuscon shootings, The State of Arizona has passed an emergency measure instituting "funeral protection zones" that will keep all protestors at least 300 feet away from funeral services.
Of course this was a response to Westboro Baptist church and the Reverend Fred Phelps, who are to Christianity what Jesus Christ was to ignorance, hatred & inbreeding. Distributed by Tubemogul.

Couldn't possibly love this more. I would like to thank John's parents (former priest and nun, no less!) for raising a stellar champion of human rights. "Because homophobia, Reverend, is an insult to God." Preach!

I love John's stance on this. He's not disproving the religion, or saying the Bible is fiction (like some comments), but rather shows the flaw of the self-righteous humans that are full of hate. Also, I hate seeing signs that say "God Hates...", because from what I understand, that's just not God's deal.

I'm a Christian and I largely agree with him. What the Westboro Baptist Church is doing is horrible, and it makes me so sad that anyone who claims to love Jesus would be so unloving. Jesus himself said that the Law (which is what John Fuselgang is referring to, more specifically called the Torah or the 613 mitzvot) is summed up in two commandments: love God and love people. I don't believe the real issue is all the political bullshit that gets argued about anyway; the real issue is that the church (as a whole) is not loving God or loving people as Jesus commanded. Just my two cents. I really wish I could apologize to the gay community on behalf of all people who actually know Jesus. I know it breaks Jesus's heart how gays are being treated (I'd like to state that Jesus preferred the company of homosexuals to hypocrites. Look out WBC). This is so against his character and his love. Thanks for being open enough to ask about it. God bless you.

Leviticus is an expired set of civil laws for the people at the time. Secondly, it was directed to a specific group of people - the Jews. So atheists and other drive-by comment thread trolls that like to snatch things out of Leviticus couldn’t have made it easier to let people know they don’t have a clue about what they’re trying to discredit.

He forgot another vital instruction of Leviticus - 15:28-15:30 - where, upon menstruation, a woman must wait eight days until she is clean before she is able to sacrifice two turtledoves in atonement of the "uncleanliness of her discharge". Once again, God is punishing human beings for entirely natural phenomena. I sure hope Shirley is up to date with her ritualistic sacrifice...

Actually Jesus spoke against just about everything in Leviticus. He also spoke against human rules and traditions which is what Leviticus is. He was quoting Isaiah in the Old Testament. Issiah was quoting God. Jesus even said that men made up laws that were not from God but these haters just pick out the parts of the Bible that they can use to hate others and ignore everything that Jesus taught like love your neighbor as yourself, everyone is your neighbor and don't judge others. Hateful people aren't Christians. They are taking the name of the Lord in vain and blaspheming. God does not hate gay or trans people but God does strongly dislike hateful people. He who does not love does not know God because God is love. 1 John 4:8 God bless you ❤️

It always amazes me that people who don't read Hebrew, Greek, or Aramaic, still profess to tell others what is in the "Bible". The original Leviticus documents are actually referring to a prohibition against imitating non-Israelite, foreign cultic sexual substitution fertility rituals, and do not condemn anyone who does not use substitutional and/or incestuous sex as a method of gaining Divine favor. I can quote out the Hebrew for you, but you wouldn't understand it @einsatzdeath.

Matthew 5: 17 “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfill them." And don't forget, Jesus was a Jew. He opposed the Pharisee's application of scripture (then, what we cal the Old Testament) He often quoted scripture and explained how it applies to us, his followers. @JJbirdsong1 Christ said 'if you look upon a woman with lust in your heart you have committed adultery' i.e. you ideally should be married to have sex and marriage is between a man and a woman- 'when a man leaves his parents he will united with his wife and together they will become one flesh'- sodomy in that sense is not different to fornication. But St Paul was a prophet of God who reportedly spent we years out in the desert with Jesus and the first things he wrote was in Romans 1.

@JJbirdsong1 What nonsense! The passage in Romans 1 describes homosexual acts entirely in negative terms. It describes it as 'vile affections' and 'shameful acts'- do you really believe such condemnation would not be applied if the acts had been consensual? Does a shameful act no longer remain a shameful just because people have agreed to it? Anyhow, the Bible condemns all sexual relations outside of marriage, which as Christ explains in Matthew 19:5 is exclusive to one man, one woman.
