Hi david thanks for the wonderful insight. I’ve been debating between getting gris montaigne or gris dior. I have tried gris dior and I absolutely love it but I have the chance to get the gris Montaigne. Do you mind explaining a bit more into the difference between the two formulations? Many thanks!

Hello! Thank you for stopping by and watching my review! I appreciate it. You will not go wrong getting Gris Dior; the theme and feel of the fragrance is the same as in Gris Montaigne. In my opinion, the difference is in the top notes: I feel the fruitiness has been toned down in Gris Dior vs. Gris Montaigne, making Gris Dior a bit more “unisex”. Otherwise, the experience is the same. If you can get Gris Montaigne for a reasonable price, then I’d perhaps recommend you do, given its rarity. Otherwise, stick to Gris Dior, which is really the future - and it’s still promising. Best!

David Santiago it’s alwYs been interesting to me out certain fruity qualities add femme or masculine touches. So in this case GM’s fruitiness made it a touch more femme? I don’t think think I would mind that either way to be honest!

i had this very same feeling when i tried Kilian's Liaisons dangerous. Wondered how a fruity note could make it feel feminine in nature, but smelt it and i could see it. Can't seem to put my nose to what it is, but thats the joy of fragrances isnt it!

eddyc1738 it’s all about perspective, really. Fragrances are gender-less, so I don’t mind either. There’s no written rule about what smells are masculine or feminine. Some smells are just more delicate than others, which is what probably makes them lean a certain way. Gris is definitely unisex, you’d just have to be comfortable wearing florals, as it is still a mossy-floral-woody scent. :)
