The SAAB offer is not the E Variant bro, The E variant is cost more than the F-35A per unit keep that in mind, The SAAB offer was a JAS-39C Variant cheaper than F-16 Block 70 or Block 52, this plane use Pulse Dapler Radar PS-05 Mk4 or can be upgraded to gAn AESA Radar but add more cost, Cobra HMD under the MS20 Standard but no IRST. The engine is a SAAB version of GE F414 engine which is domestically licence build. The C variant is also can equipe with its either MBDA long ranged Meteor Air to Air Missile, a Raytheon Phytone Air to air missile or a American AIM 120D AMRAM and AIM 9X Sidewinder. Sana Gripen E/F na ang kunin. Ubos na kasi yung C/D version na ibinenta na 4 sa Hungary & 10 sa Ukraine. Wag na yung F16V. Mababa ang specs pero ang mahal naman ng operational & maintenance cost. Di kagaya ng Gripen E na mas advance ang avionics & electronic warfare suit niya. Mahal nga lang ang presyo pero sobrang mura naman ng operational & maintenance cost. & Mukhang kaya ng Pinas na kumuha ng 48 units as per required ng PAF. If the PAF will ofted for the Grippen 39 E/F variants as it's latest, to date this models are in the production line in joint partnership with Embraer of Brazil. Up to now some specs are still in the developmental stage, though Brazil is the 1st customer outside Sweden, it will take years from now before it can handle production for it's future customer nations to be accomodated. As new technologies advances and develop Saab AB is putting on add on state of the art items on its anatomy. So perhaps the availability is beyond PBBM admin and by that time MRFs are obsoletes to be replaced by UAVs and Drones, Floating anti air missiles waiting for it's flying preys

Then get F-2A from Japan , after all the Americans copied the wing structure w/c now incorporated in the F-16vp , the avionics is about same. The only problem with the F-16VP and the F-2A is the refueling procedure . We need fast jet tankers not prop. The tanker has onboard controller for insertion. The while the Gripen and FA-50 PH2 uses extended phobe , these two planes have good stall rate .

IMO best ang Gripen E. kahit konti lang mabili. basta matindi depensa malakas Electronic Warfare at maliit radar signature. Mas mura pa operational cost/hr kesa F16=more fight hours/training.

Gripen C/D is a good choise for PAF, and I hope the PAF and the Philippine Covernment would also have another set of squadrons for Jas 39 Gripen E and Rafale. Understanding the load difference between a medium class / swing role (ability to switch from A2G missions, to A2A missions, without the need to re-arm) Gripen E and a light class / multi role (ability to perform A2G or A2A missions, after re-arming) Gripen C in CAP or CAS missions.

Kung sa high end radar, high tech avionics, full weapons loadout without limited space to carry external fuel tank, at sophisticated ang sensor. 1. Viper blk 70/72 2. Gripen E Kung old model, hindi masyado high tech ang avionics, limited weapons loadout, range at hindi Aesa radar. 3. Gripen C/D model. For me, i will go F-16 since similar naman ito sa FA-50 interms of transition phase hindi na masyado complicated since same sila lahat from design to inside the cockpit itself. Isa pa some of the countries like china are having 5th gen fighters. Dapat meron tayong dedicated 4.5+ fighter jet with 5th gen radar, avionics and sensor to counter those 5th gen fighters to defend our airspace. And for me they deserve those big toys for their organization no matter how expensive.

Yung problema lang ay price at minsan sobrang OA yung US. Tsaka ang tamad ng US gumawa ng produkto. Yung Gripen E medyo may problema din dahil hindi pa siya in full production pa at select production pa siya meaning hindi pa gaano karami yung pwede i-manufacture nila. Kung may pera tayo, mas maganda pa yung Rafale in capabilities at sa armament.

And do you have any proof yun sinabi mong tamad mag gawa ng produkto? Hindi yan basta madali gawin yung mga military equipment dahil binusisi nila yung at quality is ther main priority not quantity. If you want high capability why not F-15EX or F/A-18 Super Hornet.

@@ruphyflorencioii5069 I'm not referring to manufacturing yung "OA", but politics in Washington whether it's their Senate or Congress where a lot of foreign items need to pass through minsan matagal ma-accept bago gagawin. Whereas the other countries hindi na need. As for proof, just look at what they told the PAF and why the choice is still in Limbo and much of the "signs" going for the Gripen since the F-16V has a backlog of orders and where our "order" was told to be available due to reasons like COVID, shortage of manufacturing parts and the issue of where parts are made dahil maraming politics madadaanan yung manufacturing ng fighter jets nila. Just look at the problem with the F-35 where a lot of Senators have forced manufacturing to be decentralized and have them made in different areas that levy taxes and other costs onto manufacturers just to get approval from Congress. Plus Lockheed is already known for it's bad reputation of delays. Not even Boeing is safe from this like how their Dreamliners were delayed for quite some due to multiple reasons. Or just research about the delays and problems the F-35 had to go through. And yes, I do know it takes time to manufacture planes especially since I'm an aircraft mechanic myself. But in comparison to what the other manufacturers can do, the delays the American manufacturers have is very detrimental to any acquisition especially if the need to have them is urgent. Or when compared to the Gripen C/D where although somewhat "inferior" compared to the Viper, it is quicker to manufacture and easier to get asides from being cheap mainly because the facilities to make them are already there and streamlined and that politics aren't blocking it's manufacture. And no, the F-15EX is not easy to get either. It's just as marred with political BS with American politicians as any other American purchase. Plus it hasn't even been proven as a proper F-15 variant yet and is more like still an experiment at this point. And when compared to other 4.5s or 4th gen fighters, it has some limits to it where the Rafale although more expensive than the F15EX, has more capabilities than the F15EX. Hell, even the USAF only bought them to supplement their old F15s and because they can no longer have F-22s and their F-35 are delayed. And no other country even has the F-15EX. Even the older gen F-15s weren't just given to anyone. The Saudi & Qatari F-15s are all inferior even compared to the base F-15s while the Israeli, Singaporean and South Korean F-15s are pretty much just rebadged F-15s where it's also inferior to the base F-15s but with added modifications to suit their needs. The Rafale is different since unlike Lockheed or any American company, Dassault does offer technology transfers although they haven't done it yet for the Rafale, they are planning to and are still in the process of doing so much like what they did with their other aircrafts.

Mas mura ang flight cost ng Gripen. Less flight cost = more training hours. Mas capable din sa electronic warfare. Sa F-16 naman, mas mahal ang flight cost Pero less training na kasi may FA50 na tayo, mas maraming hard points kaya mas maraming weapon payload (1 hard point difference) Yun nga lang puro US weapons lang ang pwedeng maging munitions, sa Gripen pwedeng pwede ang US missiles at ang NATO missiles ang maging weapon payload choice kaya mas versatile ang Gripen pero mas lamang ang f-16 ng Isang hard point. Ang masasabi ko lang ay aanihin mo ba ang weapon payload kung blinded naman? Mas pabor talaga ang Gripen kasi may future upgrades pa yan at magiging mas mura pa. For sure maraming gusto sa f-16 Pero without digital warfare na on board yung Gripen E talaga ang mas sulit kasi bibilhin pa ang Viper shield kung sakali ang f-16 ang mapipili at ang tagal pa nyan bago ma upgrade kasi sobrang maselan ang politics ng US pagdating sa technology transfer. Besides parehas lang ang unit cost ng f-16 Viper at ng Gripen E/F.

Nakatago kasi ang lakas ng JAS Gripen E tapos mas maganda pa ang tutok sa missiles na hindi kayang gawin ng radar ng F-16. Viper doesn't heave blinding on board electronic jamming system which Gripen C/D have. keep that in mind that SU fighter Jet & Mig Fighter have AESA radar but dosent have a powerfull electronc jaming system that Gripen posses. that's their weakness

At Red Flag 2006, 1 Gripen C knocked out 5 F16s alone! Hello, are you awake? I too admire F16 for its history. But now...no. Gripen always defeats F16 with humiliating numbers every time.

I hope they take into consideration the factors such as how similar those MRF into our trainer aircraft (FA-50) aanhin mo yang magandang eroplano kung di gamay ng mga piloto, oo they could undergo sa mga training pero it will cost us a lot at magiging walang silbi yung pagbili sa mga FA-50, we are far behind in air assets at technology kaya this MRF acquisition is a big leap for our country.

Similar capabilities but not on the same scale. The reason the fa50s where bought was for our pilots to be ready in using modern aircraft. That is why they are designated as LIFT Training and familiarization are always considered when acquiring new equipment dunno why are you complaining about the cost for it.

I go for JAS 39 Gripen due to low flight and maintainance cost. F 16 cost 12k$ per flight hour is to expensive to use. Unless, we only fly them occasionally and will use them for display purposes only.😂😂

For me maganda ang gripen E better siya sa mga Low budget air force tulad ng Pilipinas.Ang pinaguusapan kase dito is interoperability ehh kung F 16 ang pipiliin natin masasanay o matetrain ang ating pilots sa paggamit ng Mga Us made Jets.For example Sakali man magkagyera tayu sa China madali nalang tayu mabibigyan ng F 16 ng US dahil marunong ng magpalipad ang mga Piloto natin.

That's why I like the F-16 more than the JAS-39 Gripen. In the event of a worldwide conflict. It's hard to get aircraft parts from Sweden. On the other hand, it makes the PAF have some easy grab on the other F-16s if our pilots already knew how to operate it early, making us able to request for more planes of the same model if we're to ask the US for additional planes in case of conflict. We better learn the lessons of the Russo-Ukrainian conflict by acquiring the better aircraft that have interoperability with other nations. That way, the allies can lend us a hand on that matter

F16 can not compare to even Gripen C. We have shown it since 2006. Gripen never loses to F16 or F18. We don't lose to Russia or China either.

Imagine PAF operates, - JAS 39 Gripen E for single-engine MRF - KF-21 for twin-engine MRF - Commonality of F414GE engines and weapons esp Meteor missiles - Easier maintenance and logistics - Lower operating cost This MRF tandem would be a nightmare for PLAAF fighter aircraft. Good choice for the Philippines to acquire the Gripen. Even though the F-16 is considered a monster of dogfighting & excellent multi-role Gen4 aircraft. The Gripen is considered one of the best Gen4.5 in the world. To be honest, the only aircraft that the Gripen would have a hard time fighting are technically allied aircraft. Philippines has really done a good job of selecting high quality systems for its modernization program. Combat UAVs would be nice as the next step.

The C variant is the NATO standard, it comes with what we need at a price we can afford. Example yung PNP, mga pistols nila merong galing Israel (Masada), Brazil (Taurus), Turkey (Canic, Girsan, Zigana) Austria (Glock), Italy (Beretta). Yung bansang Egypt, fighter jets nila meron silang F-16, MiG-29M, Rafale, Eurofighter, SU-35. Yung Qatar ganun din may F-15, Eurofighter at Rafale. Yung mga yan mayayayaman at matagal nang diversed ang mga armas, kaya wala silang pakialam sa logistics.

F16 ay mas malayo ang range pwede sa palawan at makakabalik kung sakaling may combat mission. Ito ay subok na. Problema it will take 3 to 4 years bago ma ideliver. Marami na itong na experience sa labanan.

@@MrYuri-iy4im Yes Mas mahal nga, pero in the future Mas madaling hanapan ng spare parts ang F16v kesa gripen, dahil merong 4000+ na f16 na kung iretire ay pwedeng gawin spare parts ng ating F16v.Kesa sa gripen na 280 lang meron. In the future ay pwedeng mag stop ang production ng spare parts ng gripen at f16v.

South Africa uses 26 Gripens, after mismanagement, mothballed ang kalahati sa mga gripen fighters nila kahit nakakontrata pa sa SAAB ang sustainment. F-16 is second to the lowest in terms of maintenance after ng Gripen C/D. Namamahalan pa ba tayo diyan? Paano pa kaya yung mga SU-30, MiG-29, F-15, Rafale na ginagamit na at gagamitin pa lang ng mga kapitbahay natin sa ASEAN?? Myanmar nga mas mayaman pa NCR kaysa sa buong bansa nila pero may MiG-29 at SU-30 na notorious sa maintenance.

So looking forawrd on wishful thinking it is not a reality for the PAF on Saab AB waiting lists as one among prospective buyers of the E/F models So with an issue of under funding acquisition the PAF should ofted for the GrippenC/D mod.Its fly away cost + training and perhaps spares, cost of maint between downtime, costs per flight hr.is the lowest among MRFs still cheaper to fly than the Mig 35 but higher than the HAL Tejas MK2. But the 3 contenders are single engined which is likely less appropriate for over the horizon waters in a given perspective of disadvantages compared to twin engined MRFs .So I for one would ofted for the Mig 29SMT or it's new sibling Mig35. Besides sophistication and letahlity of the jets are not always the tactical norm of air defense,other factors must be included. Secondly the state of the arts weapon system available and affordable to sustaining the readiness to defend must valways be a priority of the PAF so it could be looked at as ready deterrence. For even a dumb bombs and obsolete missiles has its own chance of defeating an eventual adversary on the air or on the ground and water surface. A batch of HAL Tejas meantime is squarely good enough to acquire considering a funding shortfall.

A lot of review has Gripen E having the advantage over the F-16. The cost to operate a Gripen E is way lesser than an F-16. I believed to operate an F16 is 3-4X more than the Gripen. Also, it can be maintained by a crew of two compared to 3-4x the number of crew the Gripen E has for the F16. This is very ideal for the Philippines. Also, the electronic warfare is comparable if not better than the F-16. It's understandable why F16 has more thrust than the Gripen, it's because they carry a lot of armaments.

Aside from these two contenders selected for the PAF MRF the Technical Working Group may also consider a twin engine jet fighters on the level and perhaps at par with the two earlier favorites as we all know as F16V and Grippen C/D . The Ph is an archipelagic nation same as Indonesia whereby over the water flight operation and sorties wll be it's theater settings. A good medium range twin engine to look at also is the Mig35, a 4++ generation MRF from Russia. Though a slightly smaller than the USA F15SEV, Sukoi models as Su27, Su30, Su33, Su24, Su34 and Su35 . These mentioned has a lot of variants and specialities. Though far cheaper to acquire than it's Western counterparts, it is said very expensive to operate because of it's sizes and heavier weights esp. when loaded of ordinances. In contrast the Mig 35 has all their capabilities and extra range comparable to both F16V and Grippen C/D. The price tag per copy of the Mig35 is less than 50 mil..dollars . A much longer life span than the old Mig29 The PAF can pursue it's plan of adding another batch of FA50 or better a batch of the Indian made Tejas as a lighter fully capable 4.5++ gen. MRF in it's inventory that has a slightly some million dollars cheaper than the Mig35 of Russia. By the way Indian Air Force has acquired some squadrons of this Mig35 in it's arsenals. To also inform that the Grippen C/D version is no longer in the production line of Saab, They only have 14 to 15 available units for any lucky nation interested. Saab AB is presently concentrating in the development until now of the Grippen 39 E/F version with Brazil.

The Philippines should get JAS-39C/D at least #14 as front line interceptors and long range patrol jet. And China and Russia fear the JAS -39c performance, plus we could get a full squadron in less than 2-yrs . While the F-16VP 3 to 4 yrs, the problem of getting an interim MRF like the F-16C52 it does not have qualities that of F-16VP , such as stealth composite wing structure that reduced wobbling . Only the Japanese F-2A and F-16vp have this features. We can get F-2A as an interim MRF in 8-months. I want everyone to know China has a timetable for war in the next 2-yrs in Asia w/c the Philippines cannot avoid it be must be ready in less than 2-yrs.

Forget the F16! It´s like a pimped Camaro compared to a Porsche 911 RS. The chassis, (the airframe) is obsolete. Gripen carves throw the air in steep turns without losing energy. The F16 loses all its energy if it tries to fly like Gripen. That´s why Gripen always wins a dogfight against F16. Can you see a Camaro 1968 with a new V8, and a new stereo beat a Porsche RS 2022 model at a racetrack?

Very good info, but you should include the best " interim " MRF before we receive them. Did you know the that the F-16VP copied the Japanese F-2A wing structure . When Japan saw F-16c52 the Americans did not change the wobbling of the wings , the Japanese made those changes, plus added radar aborbing material and new BVR avionics, so why do have to wait for America.
