I learned so much from this. I did the bare minimum last year, I just wasn’t in to putting up my village. Seeing the basics and learning new and better ways of making the platforms has invigorated me. Thank you!

The green project foam at Lowes is up to $9.00 each in upstate NY. Two years ago, when I last bought it, it was $6.00 each. Didn't seem to keep me from buying a couple today but gosh......!

What awonderful tutorial! I am already using my proxxon. I love it, even though I am still getting the hang of it! I look forward to your next video. I have started using clay for some of my walkways. It's more work, but I like it. I want to try your grout method too.

Hey Carl! I'm looking forward to seeing this progress! I have a question Could you incorporate viniettes for small areas into your videos. Also for narrow spots. The more videos I watch the more ideas I get!! I just don't have room for more than one layout. I love love love your videos!!❤

Love this! You are an inspiration. I am a huge Home Alone fan but I can't find a ceramic Home Alone house. Do you know if that exists? I've only seen Lego kits which I'm not loving.

I also wish someone would make a realistic replica. Last year, I wrote an email to Department 56 to ask them if they would consider producing a Home Alone subseries for Christmas in the City (CIC). It would be a natural fit for CIC because Home Alone takes place in Chicago and Home Alone 2 takes place in New York City. It would likely be a great seller as Home Alone and Home Alone 2 - Lost in New York are among the highest-grossing Christmas movies of all time. They wrote back saying they have no plans to do that currently. I was disappointed because I'm a big fan of the movies and Department 56 Villages. Maybe its a licensing issue, but they've produced subseries for other movies/franchises like Game of Thrones, Christmas Vacation, A Christmas Story, Harry Potter, The Grinch, Peanuts, and Rudolph. I hope they change their mind because they are missing an opportunity to breathe new life into CIC, appeal to a new generation of collectors, and make a nice profit.

This is an awesome video, it's also like a how to use your proxxon 101 for me. I wonder how to use it with big blocks now I know. Very well explained, even a newbie like me gets it. I just bought mine last year around 3rd week of October so its pretty new and I only know how to use it for a crypt based from your video how to make a crypt. Also Mr. Carl, where did you purchase the green styro you used for base and the road your using?

Everything looks great so far except where the car comes out of the garage. There's kinda of a big drop where the car meets the driveway. Are you going to maybe put in a small ramp so that you can just smoothly drive the car straight into the garage without the car having to go over that hump or have you got another idea in mind? Just wondering. Otherwise like I said, it looks great. I enjoyed your video very much.
