Shidra of the Worldpillar
Wasn't sure about this game before playing it, but it turned out to be a very good metroidvania. I enjoyed the grim setting of this world, it's characters and monsters. Bosses are pretty good too, they're unique, challenging and fun.
I find the combat to be pleasant, it might feel sluggish at first, but you need to get used to it. Absorbing attacks is super satisfying. There's a big arsenal of different weapons to use, although I can't say all of them are useful. Heavy weapons don't seem like they're worth being used. They're just too slow and not very powerful.
GRIME is kind of a buggy/glitchy game. Devs seem to be working on fixing them, but some of them persisted through my entire playthrough. Some of them make you die when you're not supposed to, so that wasn't very pleasant.
Regarding the bosses, the most challenging for me was The Final Performance. The way he keeps mixing quick and slow, delayed attacks makes it hard to predict his movements. The Misbigotten Amalgam, which a lot of people on Steam forums seem to despise actually turned out to be very easy. If you learn it's moveset, it will never hit you. You don't even need to hit him with a weapon, you can just pull his eye and absorb his attacks.

Shidra is supposed to be the one upholding the stability and structure of this world, hence his title. Visually, he's based on the spine, the organ whose function is to basically keep the body from falling apart. He's, in more than one way, the spine of the world.

Almost 22 minutes into the game and I was impressed with this game, especially with the soundtrack for each boss. I didn't expect so much and my jaw dropped to the floor. Congratulations to whoever made the game and whoever made the game's soundtracks. For me a masterpiece.

The "uglyness" of the whole environment is beautiful! Amazing!
I feel sad for the Amalgam, it was just chilling and then got harassed, basically blinded and killed by the same guy that then completely blinded it and absorbed its eye
This game can be deceptively tough at times. Very fun. Unga build made it more manageable especially pre patch
This game actually looks like it does the metroidvania boss thing pretty well! Actual changes in the boss attacks, unlike 99% of them where the boss is just a wall of hp, and hopes you screw up the pattern, or get bored of fighting, after wailing on them for a half hour.

Also, the more I think of it the better the boss fights get in terms of design. Take The Final Performance for example: you can feel the story behind, how the fight tells it. Full of small details that reinforce it more like how the performer bows when parried to give us the center stage. The patterns are elegant and flowy and half of the time not targeted at us, we're just in the way. It's a dance off, not a fight, and it's beautiful. Shidra. We can feel his frustration and how hard he tries despite his "old age". He hits hard and crafts his attacks because this is his profession. We start off with him trying to outsmart us and give him the best advantage he could get. Phase 2 is literally him fighting till his end. He gets slow and tired, but his fighting spirit is still intact. Beating him is destroying the spine of the world. Even farther: every time we beat a boss there are less enemies in the world and the layout change a little. Our actions have consequences. Shidra doesn't call us "Akhlan" (Hebrew for "Eater") for nothing, we come, eat and go. We destroy everything and there is less of it the more we eat... Each boss fight, as stupid as they looks, have a purpose for the big picture: we eat EVERYTHING, with no exceptions.

Id definitely agree on that, this game has some beautiful boss fights. I also thought Blasphemous did their boss fights extremely well to.
"Harmless Rockgiant" followed by "Griefing Rockgiant"? Even without playing this game can I see a story behind this where the 2nd Rockgiant is mourning the death of his friend at your hand... Even the music is kinda sad in that regard, emphasizing what loss he possibly goes through.

12:56 hahaha just noticed that when you killed the Jaw Crab all the pieces come to drop to the front. it looks sick! like if it was an ant glass dome.
Kind of surprised you didn't pull on the Jawcrab and Vulture attacks. It's so satisfying shutting down Jawcrab by pulling and absorbing 90% of his attacks. (Also, I picked up this game after watching the vid and am having a pretty fun time; thanks for bringing it to my attention!)
Looks like Glaves, the Fists and Swords are the best choice as far as weapons go also I just love how Shidra uses all the objects and artifacts he has accumulated over time in his battle
Vulture battle was different, good to see a change from the slash-retreat-repeat method

This whole game screams Dark Souls. It's a soulslike and that's clear from the beginning. However, it makes itself its own thing and creates a brutal yet joyous experience. Also, Shapely Fidus is a girl. You can see it in her figure.
This is one hell of a difficult game. I made it to the fourth or fifth boss but then it got too difficult. Good work on beating all the bosses
El juego está espectacular y sus jefes aunque difíciles se pueden llegar a memorizar sus patrones y aveces incluso sin eso puedes pasarte alguno que otro .muchas gracias por tu vídeo.

So I got a question, why does six of the bosses (such as the Harmless Rockgiant, the Grieving Rockgiant, the Desert Watcher, the Jawstag, the Jawcrab and the Artisan of Flesh) have the color white for the first halve of the outline for their health bars, and have four bare segments in the first halve the health bares, and yet the rest of the seven bosses don't?
