Actually the negative in this case is cumulative! “Can't take no more” would have the same meaning as “Can take no more”, since the two negative does not cancel out each other like you would normally see in math equations, rather empathize it. The use of double negative results in negative is mostly associated with southern American English and AAVE, but it dates back to middle English! I know it would feel strange if your dialect or speech of pattern doesn't have this feature, but it's not “wrong” per say.
