As the programmer for pitching/batting and the home run derby, I just wanted to thank everyone here for sharing their enjoyment of this game. We'd received mixed reviews when it came out, mostly because of the game's "limited use" of historical player stats. So for all of us who worked on it, your praise is very, very appreciated. For most of us, MLB feat KGB (or 'KGB' as we called the project) was the first released videogame in our careers, and quite a trial-by-fire. So I have to also give a huge thank you to the whole Angel Studios family...it was the time of my life!! Even more thanks to founder and former CEO Diego Angel, who took a chance on a bunch of n00bs, and somehow persuaded Nintendo to keep the project afloat. You're a mad, mad genius. I f'ing love ya man!

That’s so cool!! You know this game was a HUGE part of my childhood. In fact, it was this specific game that got me interested in computer programming! My dad was a software engineer and I remember asking him like “how do they do that?” - I started thinking in my head constantly about how certain features would be programmed, and that’s when I really got a grip on the idea of conditionals or if/then statements, before I ever wrote a line of code. My dad ended up giving me a book on programming in C and that was the start of it for me. It’s so cool to just hear someone who worked on it talk about it! What language was the game primarily programmed in? What graphics software was used?

I grew up in the Pacific Northwest, and watched Mariner games all the time, even in the off season. I was obsessed with baseball and obsessed with this game. Thanks for providing hours of enjoyment during some really awkward times in my life.

Call me, call me, call me “Junior!” - LOL when I was a kid playing this game I had no idea what he was actually saying. I thought was saying like “homie homie homie...”

I spent more total time(because of the season mode) on this game than any game after. including gta and other sandbox games with online modes.... the pace of the game and the exceptional batting experience made this the best baseball game I've ever played.

By far, KGJ Baseball is the greatest baseball game ever made! 2nd place goes to NCAA baseball on the PS2 (not sure if that's the actual name of it but it's the only college baseball game ever made, I think). 3rd place goes to just plain old Baseball on the original Gameboy (and now I feel old).

0:48 the "camera pivot" as it becomes a HR was my controller throwing moment as a kid

I love the pitcher shaking his head in resignation after giving up a HR

Those character models are pretty damn impressive for the time tbh.

Wow, I remember spending a lot of time obsessing on getting those opening screens to display along with the opening music along with KGJ's opening welcome. I know that most people skip that part, but I wanted it to be just right. I still watch that section over and over... Call me crazy, or call me Junior. ;-)

Awe man I miss this game, I used to play this game religiously. Me and my friend Dustin were super good at it, I could always beat him though lol. This is such a good game.

The best part is that this was released in the 1998 season AKA the Yankees' best season ever, and it features that legendary lineup. Only problem is that its out of order.

Remember buying this the day it came out. This and Banjo Kazooie was my entire summer in 1998

The presentation of this game was so slick, especially for an N64 game. I loved the batting system.

Ehhhh half agree.... A lot of the time I found that if you trade two crappy players for one really good one, you can keep going that method until you have an all-star squad.

Get Chili Davis and Jose Canseco. You can trade both of them for a great player, then the other team drops them, so you can get them back and repeat the process.

I used to rent this out a couple of times back in the day. Always was a blast playing it.

This along with the sequel slugfest, were so fun. I actually recently started playing this game again.

This was back then when I was still playing little league baseball! In 1995, I was playing for the Mariners! My baseball history influenced me to pick up this game!! And this game was really fun to play!

So many hours as a kid on this game, you could def run up the score. My goal was to get to 100 runs in a game but I always fell short around 85

Same dude. I hated baseball irl, but this game was an exception. I got an extreme surge of nostalgia seeing this again 💗

My greatest achievement in my life is playing as the Mariners and going undefeated for a season. Griffey hit like 200 homeruns. Only used the cheat if down and need to win.

The only other video game series I would put next to this is MVP baseball 2004-05 games. Those were ahead of their time. Between those two, this and Griffey Jr slugfest that was my childhood to teenage years. Haven't played any baseball games since. Mlb the show is 🚮
