My hair is exactly like yours - same texture, thickness, and growth pattern. I'm about 27 months into my transition, and also have the orange "bands" in the same spot on either side. They should theoretically be grown out by now, so I suspect hard water from my shower might be staining my hair a rust color. Either that, or my hair is extremely sensitive to heat styling, which I really try to limit. Anyway, your hair is gorgeous! Can't wait to see the new cut!

I've never been so indecisive about anything as I have growing out my grey. One day I like it.. Another don't mind it.. Some days I hate it! I even cried on Saturday. 3 months of grey with years of dyed (now) orange looking hair, I tried to put it up but it just looked so odd. All grey will orange lengths, white hairs spouting out ALL OVER. Normally I'm grateful for new growth, but I don't know if it's snapped or grown.. I just cried. Wondered why I'm doing it, convinced myself the next day it was going to go.. Then went back again and thought I should just see it through, I mean ffs, get your shit together right! But I just feel like someone has turned down the contrast on the telly.. I feel washed out and old! (I'm not saying anyone with grey hair is old.. It's just how *I* feel). I feel upset with myself that I can't just feel confident, happy and pretty like everyone else seems to. I just feel stuck between decisions and feeling quite unsure about myself, my looks and who I am! Anyway, I'm moaning ~ I'm sorry. You look beautiful btw, always enjoy seeing these videos, TY xx

Hey Nic, try to not be too hard on yourself. Not making a decision is still a decision! Take it one day at a time. I am 13 months in and I can tell you that it gets easier! But, Maybe you’re not ready for the change. And guess what? That’s ok. You can do whatever you want to do. Whenever I am feeling bad about myself I ask “am I afraid because I don’t like the gray or because I’m worried about other people liking it?” 95% of the time it’s the latter. I used that thinking to get past the first 6 months. You can color your hair whenever you want and feel no guilt. And if you keep the gray it’s great too! Try not to add extra stress on yourself. Take it one day at a time. If you dye it you can always grow it out again. Figure out what YOU want and rock whatever hair color that is !

Nic, you are being way too hard on yourself. Your allowed to have doubt. We've all had that experience. And it almost always comes at the 3 months mark. I would say this though. You owe nothing to anyone so if you want to dye it again, do. Maybe give it another month, I say that because the 3 month regret is a real thing and if you last into the 4th then you may feel differently. If you still feel faded and diluted, then dye it. Just because you're following grey hair accounts on social media doesn't meant you HAVE to do it. Just because you started doesn't mean you have to finish. Maybe now is not the right time for you. It is all OK xx

Nic me too. I start the day all guns blazing and thinking how great my skin looks but on those bloody Skype meetings I look like my old Mum ( not that there is anything wrong with that except she's 86 and Im not). I'm going to hang in there and spend my money on great dresses and lipstick instead of the hairdresser. Taking inspiration from Linda Rodin and pushing the boundaries with my fashion choices. Good luck Nic.

It’s lovely to see all these comments because it reiterates the point that you aren’t alone Nic, I have strong and confident days certain I’ve made the right decision and one work video meeting call I feel deflated. As another commenter posted, go at your own pace you don’t owe anyone anything and if it works for you then go for it. I hope by reaching out you will see others feel similar and it’s part of the process. Stay safe x

Loved your post. That new growth is probably hair that is bouncing back from the lack of colouring. It should continue to get fuller and blend in with the rest of your hair. I am just about two years in and have those also. Not a fan of pixie cuts myself and if you end up unhappy with it, it will take a long time to grow it out. I would start off with a good trim first, with some layers and the brown will be just about gone. Assume you follow Tudor rose and she regrets getting the pixie. Just a thought. Enjoyed watching, thanks.

I had to laugh when you compared your current cut to women that wear maxmara etc clothes. I love those choppy, shag haircuts. It’s hard to find a stylist to do it right and I just cut it myself. (The growing out is a pain, I am just trying to get one length and see how the grey comes out. ). You look young, I’m 58.

Have you tried straight coconut oil for shine? It is also a sunscreen for the hair. Start with small tiny amount in your hands to warm it up. Then I use a tiny bit in my arms then put it on the ends. Perfect for any winter static too.
