Loved this Ray. I had one of these and adored it, but then sold it to make rent. I enjoyed the first untitled tune and would love to play drums to Muddy Mississippi

I’m sorry you had to part with yours, but it’s definitely understandable. I’m glad you dug the tunes, and thanks, as always, for watching! I appreciate it!

My electromatic is a little newer than that one. I put a roller bridge in it and a new soft spring for the bigsby from reverend guitars. I love this guitar so much.

That’s really cool! I was thinking of putting in a roller bridge myself. I’ll to check out the soft springs from Reverend. I really want to try one of their guitars, too. Thanks so much for watching!

@@OneRayMusic I want a reverend guitar as well. I've never played one but they look pretty cool.

Yes I do have one but not with the Bigsby or the black-tops. I've replaced them with late-59 Filtertrons.

Great video!! I agree, every guitar should come in orange haha. Ive got an orange Jaguar and Troy Van Leeuwen Jazzmaster, theres really a lack of orange guitars out there.

I appreciate it so very much! Thanks for watching! That’s cool you have a Jazz and Jag in Orange! There’s a three P-90 Jazz I’ve been looking at that I wish came in orange.

I’ve owned a couple Gretsch Electromatics. I’ve never had one of the big body hollowbody models but I’ve been curious about them and lately have been considering a 5420. I really appreciate the rundown of this guitar and what’s good and bad about it. Thanks!

I’d still recommend the 5420. The newer ones also have the treble-bleed pots (where you don’t lose high end when you turn them down). Which Electromatics have you had? I’m glad you enjoyed the video! I appreciate it so much!! 🍻

@@OneRayMusic I had a couple Jets over the years... one with a fixed bridge (that I regret selling) and one with a Bigsby.

Very cool! I'd like to try a Jet (with a Bigsby) some time. I've definitely had guitars I regret selling, too - namely, my Tele.

@@OneRayMusicIronic. I’ve been a bluegrass/classic country music listener and amateur acoustic player and local entertainer for 30 some years but after a work place injury I find the acoustic a little difficult to play especially for long periods and was trying to decide between a Gretsch 5420 and a beautiful Texas Tea, Ultra Telecaster (it’s sooooo hot looking). And I’ve always kind of wanted to expand my musical horizons somewhat and try learning how to play an electric in light of their versatility. If you could only keep one, which would stay and/or which would have to go?

I’m in the process of shopping for a new guitar. Sold my strat. I’m torn between the Gretsch electro magic 5420t and the Epiphone Les Paul 59 standard. I haven’t really touched an electric in 20 years. I play a lot of acoustic, including some old country and folk. I love to play a lot of punk rock green day, living end, too fighters, but also into grunge, nirvana, Pearl Jam, sound garden, 90s pop rock like third eye blind. Also rage and Audioslave. Love the 80s stuff ,particularly U2, cure, clash, cult, inxs. I also grew up on zeppelin, love playing it, and like the old blues rock. No idea which way to go….any thoughts?
