Amazing Ryman 2022 Tour Show with Aoife O'Donovan
The Stable Song Lyrics
Remember when our songs were just like prayers
Like gospel hymns that you called in the air
Come down, come down sweet reverence
Unto my simple house and ring
And ring
Ring like silver, ring like gold
Ring out those ghosts on the Ohio
Ring like clear day wedding bells
Were we the belly of the beast or the sword that fell
We'll never tell
Come to me clear and cold on some sea
Watch the world spinning waves, like that machine
Now I've been crazy couldn't you tell
I threw stones at the stars, but the whole sky fell
Now I'm covered up in straw, belly up on the table
Well I drank and sang, and passed in the stable
That tall grass grows high and brown
Well I dragged you straight in the muddy ground
And you sent me back to where I roam
Well I cursed and I cried, but now I know
Now I know
And I ran back to that hollow again
The moon was just a sliver back then
And I ached for my heart like some tin man
When it came oh it beat and it boiled and it rang
Oh it's ringing
Ring like crazy, ring like hell
Turn me back into that wild haired gale
Ring like silver, ring like gold
Turn these diamonds straight back into coal

Time Will Tell Lyrics
Turning in the grain again
The bells begin to chime
Time, she says,
"There's no turning back,
Keep your eyes on the tracks"
Through the fields, somewhere there's blue
Oh, time will tell, she'll see us through
Howling out,
The windy hills
And all the time we took
You should know just how it steals
Keep your hand on the wheel
And through it all, somewhere we knew
Time will tell, she'll see us through
And all fire and flames took all we trust
We're kicking up dust
Stations fade just like they do
Oh, time will tell, we always knew
Oh, time will tell, we always knew

All Shades of Blue Lyrics
When the wine stops working
And you're all run out
And all of your high hopes have all headed south
And the songs left the stable and they never came home
And there ain't no forgetting that you're out on your own
Turned the scrub oaks to timber and you're left without friends
And you don't put your book down even after it ends
Smoke curls up from the table in your quiet little room
And your heart's worn the handle of an old pushing broom
Broken bottles shine just like stars, make a wish anyway
Just your smile lit a sixty-watt bulb in my house
That was darkened for days
Been thinking you probably should stay
When the going is long gone
And the kick drum won't kick
When you fumble with your fiddle and you're fresh out of tricks
And the horseflies are biting but the fish never do
And your heart's a thousand colors but they're all shades of blue
Broken bottles shine just like stars
Make a wish anyway
Just your smile lit a sixty-watt bulb in my house
That was darkened for days
Been thinking you probably should stay
Yeah, I think that you probably should stay
And our dreams on the windowsill
See those trees turning gold in the hills

My son got married in 2021 and played Stable Song as I walked him in and his bride's parents walked her in. We were doing the rehearsal the day before and this song came on. I said, " Is this what we are proceeding in to? Well, if I wasn't going to cry before, I am now"

This is one of the best performances I've seen, I've never seen Gregory smile as much as possible as he expressed here. And you know, nothing would be quite the same without the man in the back of the audience, providing a great harmonious whoooo hooooo!! 😉❤

Kid, I totally dig your music. It seems to be workin' it's way up in the rotation and I was in one of those moods for a dose of something Rootsy with hints of traditional and I started checking out your lyrics and was pleasantly surprised that the imagery and emotion you add with the singing aspect of your talent goes very well with the other aspect Your guitar playing. It's so good in fact that I don't even hold against you your youth or Good looks and when I saw that lovely young woman singing with you on some video, I thought, You go kid. So in conclusion enjoy it all and don't wish any of it away. You should hook up with Bob Dylan's buddies, The old crow Medicine Boys... Men, I mean. I was thinking they were about your age until I got a good look at you the other day and scruffy Biard or not You're a young Man, and my surprise is the wisdom in your words are beyond your years. Not that I'm an expert but it's usually customary to mess up a bunch of shit and nearly destroy yourself publicly before you get to write songs as good as you write. I do my Facebook the same way as I'm actually talking to the persons in the video. LOL, The person who was kind enough to post these Jams is probably thinking, I'll be sure to tell 'em if I ever meet them. lol. It's a small world but the Folk music world is the Smallest of the music world with the exception of Polka, Zidaco, and Soaka perhaps there are more but I think I covered the worthy cousins of Folk. I wonder how many people get to the end of my rants? lol

Not out of the Encore songs but the regular show. It had a set of three very deep beats from the drums, anyone know?
