I was so lucky my Father took me to the Xfinity center in Hartford CT to see them. I was even more lucky to see Jamoes jazz band at bridge Street live in Collinsville CT. I shook the man's hand when I was maybe 6 or 7. He signed my hat that I was wearing. I was blessed when I was working at mooyah burgers in New Britain CT and he pulled up in a blacked out Escalade. Walked in like anyone else, humble, and ordered his own burger from me. I knew who he was immediately, he didn't recognize me and I would never make a scene for such a humble man, but I'll tell ya, I was ecstatic as he told me what he wanted on his burger. I told my father a couple days later and he hardly believed me. I know Jaimoe when I see him. The most humble and respectful man you could ever meet. I asked my coworkers if they had any idea who just came to our place of work. No one has any idea even after I told them. I soon left that job and found better, yet harder, work for myself. I hope someday I can run into Jaimoe again. He won't believe what he's done for me by just existing. Nevermind the music. He showed me that no man is greater than another. He taught me humility. God bless Jaimoe. 🙏❤️

I first heard 'Laid Back' sleeping on the couch of my grandmother's house in Liverpool,England in 1975. My father had recently died, and my mother who was only 39 at the time of his death, needed to get away from all the sadness of the post-funeral period, decided to visit relatives on the other side of the world in Australia. Well I was a bit lost myself, at 16 years old,but Gregg helped fill the void, and support me through that difficult time, and I have always come back to his achingly beautiful songs throughout my life. Rest in peace Southern Gentleman,you'll never know what your music meant to me.

It sounds corny but the ABB changed the course of my life. When Gregg passed away, I was at a cook out w a lot of friends. I went in a room all alone and cried. I’ve never done that w any artist. Hell, I’ve had family that left us and I never cried. That day I cried.

Jackson is considerd by some to be a poet, especially in his early years, the same way that Dylan was. I personally think that Jackson could touch base and be more grounded with an audience than Dylan, but Dylan was in a world all of his own with no competitors and he was almost a decade earlier than Jackson. You said it so well, stretch54 about the perspective of an an older person , written by a mere boy.

I only knew the Jackson Browne version of the song. Jackson wrote it but Gregg recorded it before Jackson did. Jackson says that when he recorded it he "tried to sing it like Gregg did but..."

JB is our best songwriter. "I look for the friends I used to turn to. Looking into their eyes I see them running too." From, Running on Empty. The song perfectly captured the letdown decade that was the 1970s. Peace did not prevail even in Vietnam, love did not conquer hate, generosity did not supplant greed.

I took my nephew to see Gregg Allman a year before his death, he was with his band and they were great, the next month we went to see Dr John at the same venue in Kansas City, and he was fantastic, they were both gone within a year, I am so glad that I introduced my nephew to these great artists

A timeless, soulful, irreplaceable voice. RIP Greg.

He was just a kid, as anybody of his fans I watched him on the news, talk shows, his marriages, saw him in Louisville every time he came within driving distance. You should read his book. Hey Julia, I agree...adore is my word. I met him at Sam’s Famous Bar in Daytona back in ‘75. What a sweet, tortured soul that man was. Did you know he was very smart and actually studied music theory and several instruments in college and military school? He was actually very accomplished. I wish I could have been in his life. He always sings about how woman always did him wrong. So sad. I miss him and play his music a lot!

I couldn't have said it better my self . Saw him 34 times . Met him , shyer than me ,but a gentleman . I grieve him today . I actually just got home from a Government mule concert . Biggest disappointment in a while . Hoping at least SoulShine .5 songs . One Rod Stewart and the others I didn't know . EVERYTHING else were instrumental.so sad . Warren certainly lost a fan tonight . 22 year fan club member .saw him at 16 years old .dating my now grandpa hubby at the Charlie Daniels Volunteer Jam .. Then about 20 times at Bike Week Daytona . Like I said I grieve him today . If you all don't have his last one "Southern Blood " go buy it tomorrow . You won't be sorry ,but you might shed a few tears .

Gregg Allman & Jackson Brown actually shared an apartment in Los Angeles around 1968. This was just before Gregg was summonded back to Jacksonville to hear the new band his brother Duane was putting together, which of course, became the legendary Allman Brothers Band.

Not sure what version of them singing together you've seen, I've seen a couple versions with different edits, but when Browne is at a specific place in the song his voice cracks with emotion, and Gregg catches his eyes and gives him a smile. A very tender moment in a glance. I'll never forget it

I was lucky enough to see Gregg on his Laid Back tour in, I believe 1974, at the Chicago Auditorium theater. What a great concert.

Gregg was such a cutie when he was young. So sad he died. The Allman Brothers Band is tied at № 1 on my favorite groups list with The Stones and has been for about 45 years. Such a tragedy losing Duane. Imagine the music they would have made if he'd lived on. Leon Russell was a big loss for me, too. No other passings of rock stars or movie stars ever affected me the way these guys did. Well, Aretha Franklin. Damn it. The world has lost some of its greatest musical voices.

As I'm writing this I have tears in my eyes. This has been a very sad may. Two of the greatest rock singers of all time have passed on. GregAllman and Chris Cornell. Two of my favorites. Their music was real and solid. They spoke to me in ways most people can't. Today is my birthday and my hero is gone. Farewell guys you will never be forgotten. You will live on forever threw all the great music and memories you left us.

To me this was one of the changing points in my life when I heard Dwayne and Greg Allman, the greatest band of all time!

Grew up on this music, I was 12 when I heard my first Allman Brothers song in 72. It was today my girlfriend told me to hold on as I was driving when she said, Gregg Allman has just passed away! Gerald West : Hey Mr West, I’m with you...I was 14 first time I heard him but I was 21 the first time I met him. God I wish I’d known then what I know now...would have spent even more time after he was done playing. It’s just that he was soo darned high I couldn’t relate. It did seem like he wanted to though...he sat down next to me at “Sam’s Famous Bar” in S. Daytona. After we talked for a bit he got up and played his guitar and sang. I couldn’t believe he could play. He was so high. I feel so damned haunted by him. He was genius with a cross I guess.

Still missed. RIP. This wonderful voice has been with me since I was a kid in 1971.

Theres no voice like Greg Allmans. You can really hear the pain in his voice.its the most tallented creative artists that are willing to share their pain for great music & find an outlet for it. Thank u Mr. Allman u will never kno the impact u had on the world.He will sorely be missed.

Greatest in all ways and missed by more than you could imagine.

It is such a great song! My 3 kids refuse to talk to me and none of the reasons have anything to do with what I have done to them! I am 60 years old and in bad health. And this Allman Brothers song is what will be sent to them some how and I will not be giving any inheritance money to them either. I have outlived my family except my 3 kids ... a daughter who was born Feb. 1982 and two sons born Nov. 7 1988 and April 30 1992. My daughter has 2 children which are my grandchildren that I never see . They are teenagers now. I do not know why my daughter stopped talking to me but my son born in 1992 told me that he and his brother had a problem with his Dad's friend. I took the friend to court but there was no proof !

I met Gregg at the Jax Beach Coliseum in 1970. He was playing there. I was 14 he was 20, he was so gorgeous I almost wet my pants. Be in love with him since then.

I just finished reading his book for the 2nd time. I always end up in tears. He was such a warm,sweet man. so talented and humble. He is missed very much but it makes me feel better knowing he's with his entire family in heaven along with Barry Oakley, and Butch Trucks all making beautiful music.

Yes: Saw them..But the fabric of my life at now 65..but always……Forever young ..😘😘☮️☮️☮️❤️❤️❤️🙏🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

God l miss The Allman Brothers Band concerts. Doesn't seem like summer. RIP Gregg. Thanks for the awesome music.

Jackson Browne wrote this when he was 17 years old. How is this even possible!? Such great insights from someone so young is beyond remarkable.

Oh my, I miss him so, so much😔. Life,.... its so precious but sometimes it's hard to realize/accept that there is an end😔.

Sad news today in the music world- Gregg Allman has passed away. Rest in Peace Gregg. We loved your music you gave us. Always a fan of the Allman Brothers.

One of my favorite songs he ever did even if he didin't write it. I play that song on my quitar. Greg has so much meaning in his voice. A real classy musician. and of course the Allman Brothers Band.

The anniversary of his passing a few days ago and Gregory is still timeless!

Until we meet again, I'm close to the end, my friends, I'll be thinking of this song when I pass this way again..and all the Happiness I had with my brother's, sister's, Mom, Dad never forgetting the strife, that's part of life that's my Wife ..happiness and the Happiness I'll miss, I guess I'll be fulfilled when they lay me down, I hope there's music where they send me!! That's when I know I'm in Heaven.

Thank you for sharing this sweet version of one of my favorite Jackson Browne songs. That slide show brought a smile to my face and a tear to my eye. Gregg Allman is without peer...

Saw Gregg and The Brothers perform in NYC last night-- he and Warren played "These Days" acoustic...It was incredible...took me back in time...felt like a beautiful spring day in college...Gregg is getting older but the man is pure soul...I guess i'm getting older as well but I love the music even more....

masterpiece of a song. i didn't think i'd find a cover of this better than the original. until i found this. so soulful.

I thank my mother still in heaven everyday for giving me the gift of the abb Gregg has molded me into who I am with every raspy lyric and stroke of the keys...

when laid back came put boy I ran the grooves down. To me one of the ten best albums ever made. Thanks Gregg, I appreciate all you given.

I keep revisiting this video of this song. Which, btw, Jackson Browne wrote, however Mr. Browne was having problems putting the words together with the music...he asked Gregg to take a stab at it, and voila! They had the phrasing, they had a song! This video is a moving beautiful tribute to the genius of Gregg Allman, I cannot get enough of it......Thanks to Mitzi Haston for uploading this loving video.

I feel the exact same way. If you see the video with Gregg and Jackson singing, just before Greg died, Jackson just looks at Gregg in awe, as if he knows this is the last time he'll sing with Greg, it blew me away to see that.

It's hard to watch these videos and not tear up. He was with me all my life.... You're the King of Hearts.

Still can't get it in my head that that voice is silent, now for a year. I am 68 and I still listen to this and Whipping Post every single day. My touchstone!

He puts so much emotion in his songs, with voice, Hammond organ and guitar. You can FEEL is songs.

the cover is great because it applies directly to him. I see him often. Richmond hill GA . Lives down the road from me.

Getting old is a blessing, and sucks all at once. Just glad I live in a great place to do it in. Sorry for your loss. Never have spoke to or approached him, just see him around.
