I love a man who is secure enough to let his wife shine bright in the spotlight. Greg seems really very proud of her. I think half the reason Ken Branagh cheated was because Emma was winning Oscars and becoming more popular than him and his ego couldn't handle that! Plus, Greg is so gorgeous, Emma did much better the second time around!

Branagh was what they call a “wunderkind” in the UK in the 80’s and 90’s. He was adapting Shakespeare into screenplays and starring in and directing movies. He was a big star. He could do it all. I think it probably was yes the separations because of work and he started to believe his own hype and had an affair because he could. When you’re told over and over how great you are you start to believe it.

Greg Wise consulted a psychic in the nineties and she told him that he would marry someone from the cast of Sense and Sensibility which he was about to shoot. He hung out with Emma Thompson and well the rest is history.

@Autumn74 I found Kenneth as Poirot a sensory jolt initially. But then settled into the film and enjoyed his performance, and all the cast. I've never read Christie, so had not created a 'mind picture'. Obviously, we were so privileged to watch David Suchet's marvellous development of the character over multiple series. And then there was Peter Ustinov all those years earlier - when I was totally ignorant of the 'famous Poirot' character.

Kenneth Branagh was and remains a brilliant actor/director in roughly 75 films. His Henry V Crispin's Day speech still gives me goose bumps; I walked half way across the city of Toronto to see his magnificent 4 hour long uncut Hamlet; Wallender was a brilliant series; Belfast deserved the Bafta for best film it received. He donated almost all his considerable earnings to restore the Globe Theatre in London and was dedicated, surrounded by a core of brilliant RSC rep actors like Derek Jacobi but enlisting Hollywood A list actors like Denzel Washington, Julie Christie, Kate Winslet to make his films accessible and inspiring; they were meant to be seen not read in school. Emma Thompson was not more successful than he; she never was and they both merit the respect they have garnered in the course of their respective illustrious careers. Someone said in the comments that Branagh is now married to a fat woman so he's a sad bastard. What kind of cretinous shaming of other women is that all about? Thompson lashed out rather viciously because she was hurt and she and Bonham Carter were friends. They have all found the partners they were meant to find, are friends and have moved on. They are adults. I'm not even going to read the comments on this idiotic site from nitwits, serves me right for landing on the damn thing.

Absolutely right, for the love of God it was just another divorce between actors 30 years ago, ET fans should be grateful to Branagh for launching her international career, however I don't know if out of spite or envy some are dedicated to pursuing him and disqualify him, how crazy, without him they might not have met her, now they both have independent and successful careers. On a personal level, whatever it may be, Branagh has been married for more than 20 years to a woman who truly loves him. They are so inconsistent if Branagh was so expendable for ET because they can't forget about him 30 years later, let's be honest he was the director who brought out the best in her.

This story, is so old, it has grown fungus, laughable that you think this is news, Not Brian Bless, Brian Blessed, the man is a British Icon, least you can do is get his name right, infact you haven't pronounced anyone's name right.

@elaineduker.6355 Sorry for not knowing of this actor. But I think his name was said correctly, with the 'Blessed' and 'was' sounds bleeding into each other. At 2:16 mins the narrator says "Actor Brian Bless'd (sounded out) was the best man."

Did you see where she pushed forcefully her adopted son's arm down from him holding her? She is not the kind woman she pretends to be. Another narcissistic controller.

She was going to grab his hand, he lowered it before she could touch it, you should look at it again.

She couldn't possibly forcefully push her son's arm down since she didn't even touch it. Watch it again, in slow motion if that's what's needed for you to correctly process what is shown.
