Okay, Govan and Howe are my favorite players of all time .. if I had to nit pick, I might be fair in saying that Guthrie is seemingly always perfectly clean in a live setting whereas Greg is a bit shaky .. but MAN, Howe's note choice is sooo much more interesting. He's always saying something!

i hate comparing musicians but... greg has a certain indefinable charm with his playing. it's raw, dirty, imperfect and most importantly to me, compelling. guthrie is a fantastic musician as well but he's a little sterile sometimes and sounds almost 'too polished' if that makes sense, and that's not his fault nor is it meant to undermine his otherworldly abilities and contributions to music. that's just how my heart and ears feel.
