Joe's reaction was genuinely one of the most tragic things I've seen on TV. You couldn't write it that well.
Okay the potato throw is iconic and all, it’s brutal that he was disqualified but I almost think it’s harsher when mark watson got no recognition for his individual task of messaging Greg cos he did 148 and not 150, cos Joe’s is horrible but Mark’s was five months of his life that he spent that was wasted
They didn't need to narrate the actual task. The potato throw is that iconic . 🔥

I'm sure the potato throw was Pivotal in cementing the series. As was Joe's crawling plea of "please sir."

The fact Greg gets a sick, sadistic, almost sexual sense of joy from this makes it all the funnier.

That is (imo) what makes TM work so well. That the TM is obviously biased and plays hard and fast with the rules, and that the creator of the show is his tiny little bitch puppet, genuinely makes the show work

@@timothycahalan1540 i think greg honestly doesn’t look at a lot of the tasks before. he has mentioned seeing certain tasks, which implies that this is not the norm
The First Law of Taskmaster is that you can never have enough compilations with the Joe Wilkinson Potato Incident.
I love that both Jon, and Greg had the exact same reaction, at around the 2:27 mark, when Joe said: “Please don’t take it away from me”: they both immediately put their hands over the their faces, because of how genuinely crushed Joe had sounded…Jon obviously got over it pretty bloody quickly, due to not voting for Joe to keep his points, the devious bastard haha. But it’s a comedy show, so that was probably the right call; Joe’s a comedian, so, if the roles had been reversed, it’s highly likely that he would have done the exact same thing, if he thought it would be funnier.
I think the first one they shouldn't have been disqualified. The rule was "you must not leave the red carpet", he kept one foot on the carpet when he stepped off, so he never "left" the carpet.
Johnny tripping over nothing is so relatable lmao 😂

they get contracts with certain channels, so comedy shows on Channel 4 naturally tend to share the same stable of comedians. There are faaaar more comics knocking about, have no fear.
"Yeah you'll be able to see that with your eyes." How does say something so condescending yet sounds so supportive at the same time?
Johnny Vegas is one of the best comedic personas in the business, in my opinion. The caricature of himself that he has created is brilliant.

Joe Wilkinson's faux pas is so good.
Joe's dreams weren't crushed so much as they were completely obliterated
Damn watching that "moment of silence" really drives home how severely that group was in the grip of early pandemic mania lmao
Definitely not the best edit when it comes to PotatoGate, you do lose a bit of the impact by missing out on the "it was so good, I'd like to see it again" part.
Little Alex Hornet’s face when Joe begs for them to not take it away from him cracks me up every time
That first one, though...they do remain on the red carpet, don't they? He always has one foot on the red carpet, even when he steps outside of it. I don't think they should have been disqualified for that one.
@iliketrains3495
Жыл бұрын
Just watched the episode yesterday and I'm pretty sure the rule was 'you may not leave the red carpet', which is slightly different to putting one foot off it. And even then, Liza stepped off the carpet at one point anyway yet her team got the full 5 points
0:28 Damn, that guy wasn’t lying. They really are pegging out here.
In Joe’s defense, most shoes are sort of curled up at the toe. So most likely he didn’t actually touch the red green
Ok I need that sparkly hoodie Mowan has on
Please dont take this away from me 😂
Greg standing up at the end looks just like the grinch

A couple of those attempts weren't deliberate attempts to break the rules - they were merely careless. Therefore I disqualify Channel 4's video title and description. Null and void.
@Zeratultheking
2 жыл бұрын
Well no different than breaking the rules in sports. Not every time is deliberate but false starts occur, offsides happen, traveling happen. Rules are rules.
First one, did he actually leave the carpet? Unless I missed a part it looks like he kept 1 foot on it so never actually left the carpet.

@@alnsubuga np. But that brings up my point kinda. In the one you thought I ment he barely touched the red carpet and they counted it. So in the one I was talking about they couldn't leave it, he kept his entire foot on it so technically shouldn't that count as he was on it so never left? It said they couldn't leave the red, not like the other taks where they couldn't touch the red carpet (ground in this one).
That potato throw still hurt .🤕

I love these videos but the TASKMASTER transition is jarring and unneeded. Anyone watching knows it’s taskmaster as evidenced by the branding in the video, title and thumbnail. I’d prefer if these compilations were more like the ones on the taskmaster channel.
