Ganguly was captain he was the voice of the team . Team showed great strength at that time . Its not that other players didnt confront .

That's why Ganguly will always remain my Captain. Only guy who had leadership qualities.

I had a different idea of greg chappel before, but after watching this and after hearing some of the other senior players opinion of greg, it looks like he is the worst coach to have ever coached indian side.

If sachin,dravid and all players get unite that time then sourav wouldn't have a bad time,his life became hell that time

You may or may not be a fan of Sourav Ganguly , it is upto you . But , you've got to admit - HE HAD GUTS.

Ganguly fought an "Eye to Eye" battle with Chapell , and finally he won when Chapell was ultimately removed from the post of coach , that's why he is a true tiger!

Australians never cared for a bunch of young teams rather they always took care of the seasoned, skilled, strategy, team works & compactness of the team. He was confused and busy in setting wrong narratives ultimately resulting in high handedness of a person over performance.

One thing i really hate about guru Greg is his complete desttuction of Irfan Pathan. Such a talented lad lost his way and eventually faded into oblivion under Greg.

Noone ruined noone's career It was Pathan himself who lost his ability to swing the ball and take the wickets India needed a lower order bowling all rounder during that time in 2006-2007, and Pathan used to play a little cameos down the order, so Chappell tried to groom his as a bowling all rounder, but Pathan didn't turn out to be as such, what's Chappell's fault in that? Even Irfan Pathan explained in his retirement speech that Chappell didn't ruin his career.

@@sandeshreddy5347 I like the attitude of Laxman who refused to open. He said, I have tried to open earlier but couldn't succeeded. Irfan has different opinion, he accepted the challenge as an opportunity to establish himself as oll rounder but couldn't cope up with. But here selectors should have played their part and curtail their expectations as batsman. He was fantastic swing bowler with capacity to become a great bowler.

Every cricketers were silent and they got tortured by Chappel,only Bengal Tiger DADA showed him CHAPPAL

others did not come out and speak against Chappel because they are chicken. Only Ganguly had the guts to stand up to ChappAl

Ganguly was dropped due to his poor form since 1.5 years. Chappell was right there initially. But he delayed Ganguly's return to the team when Dada was playing expectionally well in domestic circuit while his replacement in national team were struggling. That's when I understood the individual Chappell had serious problems

Chappel completely destroyed team India which Ganguly built during his captaincy. But he is not the only one who to be blamed, he got full support of the then chief selector Kiran More and few other selection committee members who have spoiled the career of many upcoming & promising young cricketers of that time. BCCI is also to be blamed for their closed eyes and deaf ears.

He took the job to coach team. Captains are held responsible for win and loss. Fingers rightly raised on him as he became spokesperson and started controlling all the events. He made many awkward changes too early to fast showing his immaturity. He was adamant not ready to realise from his failure and making illusions through blame game. He still does not want to be accountable for wc2007 debacle independently. Captain of Indian team has a long history of bad patch. It does not allow us to handle maliceciously. I salute Ganguly for absorbing all the heat within him and showed his prudence.

I was fine with him not speaking against Chapell that time. But when his book came out i was like dude whats the point of writing about it now. he could have at least supported Ganguly when he spoke against the coach. Greg Chapell destroyed Irfan Pathan's career. Asked a bowler to open the innings and slowed his pace. Tried to change Sehwag's game, threatened VVS, Tendulkar being such a senior player (already had a God status then) could have stopped all that form happening. But he didn't. And now he wanna write about it when he's got nothing to loose personally.

Sachin Tendulkar refused to become the captain when Chappel offered him to replace Dravid just before World Cup 2007 and also informed BCCI that Ganguly was wrongly dropped by Chappel. Team manager Amitabh Chaudhury and Sachin were the only senior people who were pro Ganguly.

I find it a bit far fetched that VVS Laxman could have idolised Greg Chappell in childhood. Laxman was 9 years old when Chappell retired, Chappell never played in India, and television coverage of cricket outside of your own country was as good as non-existent before Chappell finished playing. So on what basis would Laxman have had Chappell's picture on his bedroom wall?

Don Bradman had thousands of fans in the Indian cricketing community even in the 60s and 70s as is recalled by former greats. Cricket travelled through the radio, newspapers etc., amidst the cricketing cities at the time, especially Mumbai. People idolised Bradman here .

Don't believe him..he was the one who made a complaint to Chappel against Ganguly during Zimbabwe tour 2005 and Rahul Dravid was eagerly waiting to take over the captaincy

15 coaches between 1990 and now, what does that tell you? Average stay of two years per coach, not a great endorsement for your players willingness to carry out instructions.

When you come to think of it, we see numerous videos of sachins hundreds in every year except 2006-07 period.. 2005-07 was overall pretty avg ..I would rather want to remember the advent of MSD from 2004-07 and then forget the rest from this period..

Now seeing the way Kohli and Rohit then Jaddu play in Indian team like form doesn't matter they will get in to World Cup team. Sometimes you need someone like Greg to move elephants in room. India had Virat Raina and Gambir in 2011 bse Dravid Laxman and Ganguly wasn't there.Ganguly and Laxman wasn't that great in ODIs in Test Laxman was great but Ganguly went without a century for 14 tests Need a foreign coach to remove some players.

@@FABM27 it’s not. It is because Greg wants more control. In cricket the captain needs to have more control over the team. He’s the one who takes most of the decision on the field, unlike football. Greg was a great player but a bad leader. He was horrible being captain, he was horrible being coach.

The English knew that Chappel is not good for cricket and hence they made a rule that Shoes shall be used instead of chappal and his brothers.😜

Dutta ji if you followed the news at that time you would remember that it was Sachin's meeting with BCCI that gave Chappel a final decisive blow ..& he gave up the every idea of leading a team as captain way back in 2000. Though was very active in role of its appointment. Dada, Dhoni both were suggested by Sachin himself.

Sourav had every right to tell his side of the story. When Sachin was asked about Sourav Chapell controversy he told Sourav shouldn't have leaked dressing room conversation. If he knew Chapell is wrong why he made such a comment against Sourav ? And if he felt that Greg was right then why complain now ? I am also a Sachin fan but he disapointed me with that comment of his. You can dig out Sachin's interview during that period.
