Whoa 'koe' also means 'you' in javanese! I'm indonesian and was born in Java. This is a great lesson, thank you. ❤️

Brings back my intermediate days, chur. Loved learning Te Reo. Unfortunately this Pakeha can only say “hello, how are you?” and count to 4 these days. This channel helps a lot, thank you.

At least they can speak some Te reo!! There's heaps of pakeha who refuse to WHILE living in OUR country, like if you can't because it's too difficult to learn I guess I understand but just the downright disrespect of refusing to even say "Kia Ora" is insane.

@@strawberriesstarAre you Māori? I'm an American with no connection to New Zealand but I've always been fascinated with languages and linguistics and I was curious, how do Māori people feel about non-Māori people learning their languages? Is it viewed negatively like a form of cultural appropriation or is it appreciated?

Thank you for the lesson! I want to also learn how to say peace be with you/upon you in Maori
3 жыл бұрын
hmm... to wish for someone to be something or experience something, you use "kia". For example "kia tūpato" meaning "be careful" or "kia kaha" meaning "be strong". You could say "kia hūmārire" meaning "be peaceful". There may be a better saying... this is the most apt translation I can think of.

Is it possible to get word lists

There are some great word lists on kupu.maori.nz/ is this the kind of thing you're looking for?

Would you say Haere ra to someone leaving, if you're also leaving? Or should you say ka kite ano?
2 күн бұрын
You could say either. Ka kite anō is technically "see you again", so it implies you'll see the person again, irrespective of who's leaving. Haere rā can absolutely be used if you're leaving as well as the other person.
