Greetings from Kanab, Utah!

In February 2022 I was traveling through Kanab, Utah, as I had done scores of times over the past several decades. During this stop, I recorded some of my thoughts about the town. I share why I think that Kanab is a great place to visit. The red rock that rims the town is stunning, and there is lots to see and do in the town and surrounding areas.
By the way, the name "Kanab" is a Paiute word that means "place of the willows." There are very few willows in the town itself, though there are no doubt many along the banks of Kanab Creek.

There is a great veterinarian office in Kanab. I adopted several dogs off the Reservation/Vermillian Cliffs area over the years and that vet office is my first stop on the way back to Colorado.

Been there and want to go back very badly eventhough we only ate lunch there and drove through a few times. Went to some surrounding areas including Johnson Canyon ghost town where some episodes of Gunsmoke were filmed, and the pet cemetery near by. Close enough to the Vermilion Cliffs for me and Snake Gulch. I can't say enough about the areas near by. Great vid and thanks for sharing!

Thanks, JC. I do like traveling, especially "road trips" by car, and it is fun to show some of it off.

Even though I live in Alaska (which has been incredibly snowy this winter) I have been in Kanab a couple of times while heading to the Grand Canyon. I found several interesting Geocaches in Kanab. One of my favorites had to do with the plaques telling about the movie stars who have been there.

There are quite a few of the plaques--I think the last count I saw was 119.

Thanks for posting. I’ve been passing through there for almost 50 years and it’s my local resupply point at Glaziers and Honey’s for food. They have a wonderful city park too. I am going to slow down the video and take a closer look at your list of the movies filmed there. Is that list for Kanab alone or does it include the Paria movie set west of town as well?

It includes Paria. The list was actually compiled by the tourism board/Chamber of Commerce in Kanab.
