I keep going back-and forth between wanting this and the Toro. I like that this has a winder deck, better runtime (can probably get the yard done without a recharge) and extra batteries are a lot cheaper. Also the new version of this has some nice little upgrades!

I always see these battery mowers demonstrated on thin, sparsely populated lawns. I wonder how they would fare on a thick, lush KBG or TTTF lawn or grass that is damp? With no real side discharge option, the thing better be able to mulch really well or you're stuck bagging. I'm going to wait a few years until they get these things optimized a bit more (better batteries. more power) so that they really can compete head to head with a gas mower of similar deck width. Nice demo of the features though!

I have a dense st aug lawn and this thing does great. To be fair, it doesn’t like wet grass but my gas mower didn’t either. I love this mower.

I have had a Timemaster since 2021. I would like a back-up but Greenworks, EGO do not make an affordable 30". I do not want or need a $3,500 walk behind commerical mower for my half an acre lawn. The wheel rut issue on my lawn from the Timemaster is my biggest gripe. Yes, I alternate mowering patterns each week. I cut at 3.25 since there is no 3.5 and 3.75 is too high. A 150lb walk behind should have pneumatic tires pref 12" on the rear and 10" on the front. It is sad that lawn mower makers ignore us and think everyone with 1/4 acre to 1 acre automatically wants a rider.

The 25" gets work done faster at the cost of a slightly less quality cut. For me it's worth the trade off as we have a large yard to mow.

Hey Depending on size of lot. I know now GreenWorks has a 8amp 60 volt battery so you will get more run time. I was looking into the 82 volt commercial line but batteries were only 2.5 amp hours which to me is not enough. Have you decided which one your getting ? Thank you

@@josephpuchel6497 Indeed I have. Purchased the 21 inch. A old chum of mine bought a dual blade gasser and wasn't impressed with the lift for bagging. I figured the lift on 1 larger blade spinning in one direction is greater than 2 small ones spinning in opposite directions. So far, so good. I use a total of 3 batteries at 2.5 AH, and I find myself using the self propelled feature much much less than the Honda; it is that much lighter. Mulching is fine on normal height grass. Speed control to about half way conserves battery. The Turbo button really makes a difference, but expect significant battery drainage when in use. The last thing I will say is it's been a long time since I have not needed earplugs for mowing. Considerably more audio friendly. Let me know if this helps.

I would like to get the 82 volt commercial 21”. Really hoping they release a 6-8 amp hour 82 volt. They released the 8 amp hour 60 volt for the what I say residential model.

How are the handling characteristics? I used my dads Toro Black Edition Recycler mower, and man it was the easiest handling mower I’ve ever used. I’m very interested in the GW mower. The 25in deck would make a world of difference for my .4acre lot.

Thanks for commenting. The electric mowers are generally lighter. This is a bit wider than the regular electric mowers and is a bit shorter end for end. Overall, this is my go to since it gets my mowing done much faster than my other 21" mowers. My lot is probably a third acre and both batteries cover it and then some.

@ Justin. I have the same Toro Black edition Recycler and I just bought this GW 25”. The Toro self-propel system is award-winning and so intuitive. The GW self-propel system is not intuitive as it has preset speeds you select from. However the time-savings is truly around 25% and I’m using the GW for now and getting used to how it handles. So far…Worth the buy.

Have you noticed it missing any spots between the two blades? Someone claimed that in their review but it didn’t look to be an issue on your yard.

Sometimes it can miss some blades if the grass was too tall or wet or a combination of those.

Huge issue on my St Augustine grass. ‘Mohawks,’ missed blades of grass everywhere….I’ve never seen a worse cut. Super frustrating. And when I went to see if the brand new blades were the issue and tried to take them off, they were way overtightened. Took enormous time and effort to remove the blades they put on there.

For the life of me, I can't figure out why they didn't make this mower a 28 or 30 inch mower . Because it's not much different than the 21.... But if it was a 30 inch .. I'd be buying it asap

Greenworks has a commercial line that may have a wider deck /shrug. I think you are getting into riding mower deck territory though. Most push mowers i see are 21 inch for common consumer grade. I dont think the ego mowers, which are generally the highest rated electric mowers, dont go any bigger than 21 inch.

  • @pourindiesel

I haven't really timed each battery but I would guess around 35 to 40 minutes on each 4ah battery. Our home is on a large corner lot, so the front yard mow entails details along the sides of fence rows and along the side street, 1 4ah battery can complete this mow with 1 bar remaining. The backyard can be completed with about the same battery life remaining on the additional 4ah battery. I did order a 6ah battery and will try to review performance differences. Thanks for commenting!

Update, I just mowed the front yard circuit and got right at 35 minutes of run time with 1 bar left. That is with 95% utilizing self propelled at about 40% speed setting. I would venture to say the 1 bar didn't have a whole let left in it.
