Super sad considering that in this point of the series she loved kids even taught the kids Sunday School. No girl her age is thinking of becoming a mother right then but she knew she wanted to be one and that's taken from her with no other option in order to save her life.

My sister have one daughter but 2020 she have a mass then doctors saw that was cancer and spread, to save her life, they had to remove her ovaries system and went to chemotherapy for4-5 month . My sister have a chance to watch her daughter graduate from high school..

Oh! I don’t know this show but her acting was so good. It actually is breaking my heart for this fictitious character.

I had forgotten about this scene. She did such a great job in this scene. They had a pretty good relationship at least.

Sofia can not win for losing this is not fair to her Sofia has done so much good and still ends up in pain

This hits home for me. I had my ovaries taken out because they weren't working right.

Binge watched the series last week or two weeks ago.....all the seasons, this was so painful in particular.

This scene is extra painful when it’s your life as well. 💔💔💔💔

I hate they wrote that storyline for sophia

My sister went through something similar though she was a little bit older. if it was an emergency situation they wouldn't take the time to save eggs for her it's heartbreaking.

Suppose they could have done that I suppose that way she could find someone who would be a surrogate and help her to be a mom it's not fair what they did though

This was the last episode I watched

Honestly...with how the world is today with social media and how society puts out what's "acceptable" and "normal".....I would be scared as hell to bring a new life into this world. But I get her pain. For a long time I was told the possibility of me being able to have kids was very small due to having PCOS....but 14yrs ago I wound up being blessed with my daughter. She is my one and only kid and I'm content with that. She is all I could ever want and need.

In real they wouldn't remove a both ovaries not unless it is absolutely necessary like Life Threatening but in my Case they only removed one since I had a 11lb or 4.99kg benign cyst on my right ovary due to PCOS (they found it cause I had Appendicitis I was 17) they removed the ovary cause it lost blood flow cause for 5 years my period just Stopped and never started! Other my story alot can happen to a Females body in surgery and in blood flow wasn't getting to both of them or some other reason that they doctors couldn't end up saving them then they would have nothing to do. They can't leave dead organs in a healthy alive person's body it isn't safe, sanitary, or practical so while the show did a great job of capturing the raw emotion in certain situations with anyone including Minors this can happen.

I have PCOS and have multiple cysts. I had one the size of a baseball when I was 19. It ruptured & landed myself in the ER. I still have both! An old friend has one ovary and still has 3 or 4 kids I think now! There’s hope!

I had friend she wanted her tubes ties, the Doctor told no because she way too young maybe in her 40"s!!!! Doctor know that child bearing years are very important and they use caution in removal reproductive parts from females.

i didnt like that she said "youre gonna be back to your normal self very soon"

This would be a dream come true for me as long as i still keep my sexual appetite.

Now if her ovaries are not working properly, does that mean she has no eggs at all? If she still has viable eggs, could someone like her elect to harvest their eggs and employ a surrogate at a later date? Just asking.

Ovaries are where the eggs are stored. If it was possible, they could have given her that option of harvesting the eggs but in most cases, damaged ovaries do not usually produce viable eggs. She can't have biological children but if she still has her womb intact, she can have a baby via an egg donor

its where a woman's eggs are stored. Its part of her reproductive systems. Its a reproductive organ. Every month the ovaries release eggs, is a sperm does not fertilize it then the egg sheds and thats what we call a period. or menstrual cycle. Since she had both her ovaries removed she will no longer have periods.

What happened to her to be at hospital?

I heard a case of an immigrant had one of her ovaries removal and was piss about it, the doctor said it necessary cause it had cyst on it. Doctor says she still can get pregnant, but may need an little push/help but not possible.

This is ableism though. What is so inherently or intrinsically more valuable about having biological kids versus adopted kids? This scene mirrors societal standards when it comes to women... women's value comes down to their beauty, youth & fertility. 😢
