Meadow Mill Pool, the man-made pool that fed water to the waterwheels of the now ruined copper works, the pool & the surrounding area is now a Nature Reserve, Between this mill & the Battery Work stands the old clock tower.
Established in 1776 the Mill also known as the Battery Works was one of Thomas Williams's Copper/Brassworks. He sent copper/brass from other factories into the valley to be worked into goods shaped under the heavy tilting Battery Hammers. The wheel pits are still visible where the waterwheels turned to move the hammers. The finished products were exported all over the world. A row of homes was built here for the workers called Battery Row but they are no longer there.
