    My personal survival tips not factoring pre set locations but more so core game play is this. 1.Always and i mean Always keep bandages on you as well as at lest 1 tobacco bandage and 1 or 2 maggots. There is nothing worse then dying from poison or getting infected wounds because you lacked bandages. 2. Avoid eating while dirty to avoid getting parasites go to any water source and select the wash self option but keep an eye out for caiman/alligators. 3. Don’t sprint, Trust me no matter how observant you are you will eventually set off a jaguar or run into something willing to bite or sting you. Walking is always the best speed 99% of the time. 4. If you see a jaguar, dont take your eyes off it and slowly back away pull out a spear or bow and aim for the face a well placed shot will instantly kill them and any sudden movements or sprinting will set them off. Their ai can be stupid so keep in mind at times they may just bumrush you regardless but they are the biggest reason not to sprint everywhere. 5. Make a bow, as simple as it sounds the bow is hands down the strongest weapon and can one shot everything but caiman in one shot if a head shot. All you need is one long stick and some rope. You can find feathers from birds nests, skinning tribals or from the many dead birds lying around. You can also just kill birds for feathers as well. 6. always make sure you have enough energy to set up a bed and possibly a fire, passing out on the ground is the fastest way to lose sanity and die sense you will likely get worms which drain sanity insanely quickly unless removed. You can remove them with bone needles or fishbone needles but remember to always have bandages because removes worm locations can get infected which is a whole new level of cancer to deal with when you have no medical supplies. 7. Keep an eye out for turtles they can be killed for their shells which can be used as a fairly decent sized bowl for making stews or cleaning water they are also a risk free source of protein. 8. Keep in mind fires will go out without cover above them so when making your first base set up a basic foundation frame and add a leaf roof then make your bed and camp fire. 9. Always keep an eye out for palm trees for their coconuts. Getting a coconut canteen is a must sense it allows you to transport water and if nothing else you can break it for coconut bowls for an early container to purify water in next to a camp fire. 10. avoid combat with tribals for the first few days unless your using a bow. Melee combat is a huge risk and killing them is generally not worth it sense the meat they drop cause sanity loss unless you find a tribal fire starter or of the few unique structures that teach you new blue prints you get basically nothing for killing them. 11. You can make mud based structures by first picking up mud from any river or water sorce this will teach you most of the mud based blueprints most importantly the chest so you can store items. But you can also eventually get the shower and water purifier as well as the charcoal furnace and mud stove which is a functionally better fire place lest in my opinion. 12. to cure fever take any bones you find and mix them into a bowl of water to make a bone infusion which removes 2 levels of fever its also a good source of nutrients and is generally better then just drinking plain water. Same goes for most foods, they can be added into water to make stews which are generally better. 13. The best bandages are honey bandages you can deal with most wounds with them and it even makes fairly decent food. The best way to get honey is the get apiaries or bee houses by using a torch to go to a bee nest and grab the queen but for early game you can just huck something at the nest and wait for the bees to disperse and then grab the honey comb that falls to the ground. 14. Keep all metal esk items like cans obsidian and metal ore. They can be used to make metal tools arrows and armor. 15. Make armor, They will reduce the chance of lacerations as well as reduce the overall damage you take. The easiest armor to make is leaf armor which takes 2 rope and 1 banana leaf but you can also make bamboo, stick and bone armor which all have the same recipe but cost an extra 3 sticks bones or bamboo depending on what armor your making. The best armor is metal armor but sense its very late game the best armor with mostly minimal effort is armadillo armor. You will need the bigger armadillos which will sprint away from you but if you sneak around them all it takes is one well placed arrow to the skull to kill it and it will give the second best armor in the game and you can get it day 1. The recipe is 1shell 1banana leaf and 2 rope. These are mostly general tips but will help you with most of the core gameplay. keep in mind the main threat of green hell is rushing around blindly. But if you avoid rushing and keep some backup medical supplies on hand you will find the game is infinitely easier then it first seems. Always check your water and watch for the magnifying glass so you know when to remove leeches and deal with injuries. Never ignore injuries they will only get worse and don’t be afraid to set down multiple bases

    Not bad my man but if I may, allow me to add a couple of things you missed out. 1. Cooking soup in a bigger pot, turtle shell or metal pot, will give you two drinks of it if you are fully hydrated when you drink it. That's twice the bang for your buck. You can also let the fire go out or better yet, put it out with water from the bidon (so you can light it easier when you want it again, no collecting sticks) and the soup will stay right there for when you need it. It's a great way of having food ready to go and it never deteriorates, the only drawback being you can't take it with you. Having multiple cooking fires at a permanent camp is a good idea for this reason alone. Cooked meat is only good to save wasting raw meat if you don't have enough pots or dryers, or if you have not found a pot of some sort yet, though if you filled everything more useful up you can likely let it rot and harvest for maggots if needed. If you want to explore, dried meat (from the dryer) is the thing to take with you as it lasts several days. It used to be that drying meat on a dryer in the rainy season (out from under a roof) preserved that meat a lot longer, though it obviously wouldn't dry to become edible as fast or, in full rainy season, at all. Not tried that trick for a while, not needed to, so may have been fixed. 2. Brazil nuts' most important feature is they are preserved as long as you don't harvest them from the shell. Once you harvest them they will start to decay and do so faster than the palm nuts so don't, not until needed. 3. Bananas are not only useful for eating but harvest one for seeds if you plan a base with farm plots. Also, let them rot and harvest them for a larva if you have excess. Larva are good fishing bait. Rotten fruits all harvests into larva, rotten meat into maggots. Maggots can also be fishing bait or used to clean infected wounds. 4. At the fishing dock, the rusty machete can also be found in the blue crate on the floor between the hammock and the table. If you do not take an item like the rusty machete, it will despawn eventually, never to be seen again. The weapon rack would be useful to make but unfortunately, since I previously played, the camp where I distinctly recall finding that blueprint is no longer there. Oh well, I'll find it again eventually. 5. Fever can be cured, or at least helped along if it's bad, via soup made from the large bushy plant with red tipped leaves. It's been a while so maybe other plants too. I used to keep a soup made from that plant in a pot on a fire at camp, as per point 1 above, for when I got fever. Waiting to brew it takes time, time you probably won't have if the fever is bad enough and your stamina almost gone, especially if you also have to light a fire, which takes stamina. 6. You never covered bones but you probably should have, given how useful they are. They can be turned into soup that can sometimes be your only source of fats. And it's a medicine too, food poison cure IIRC, man I really should pay attention to that since it's new, least to me, don't recall it doing that previously. Harvest a bone for bone needles, for removing creepy crawlies from under your skin, or craft the needle to make a bone hook, for fishing or to craft the food dryer made of wood. 7. You showed it but never actually covered this either but fire goes out in the rain, obviously. A really useful beginner tip, perhaps the most useful, is build one under cover. Sometimes that means building a roof but if near a POI, just search around for cover there as it works to keep the rain off too. Similarly, inside caves and under overhanging rocks keeps the rain away too. Tree foliage does not keep rain off fires. 8. Finally, something else useful to tell beginners is how trapping animals works since it is really unintuitive as a game mechanic. First, never build one more than a few yards away because it'll spring but catch nothing. This likely has to do with how the game loads, likely in chunks so while it knows the trap is there and will spring it, it puts nothing in there. Second, building one where animals wander I find works (watch where prey walks, they have a fairly predictable path when not running from you, and stick it over their trail) but it doesn't actually catch that animal you see. It seems to be that the trap simply tests for what's around and fires when you aren't looking, inserting said carcass in the trap while the animal itself continues to wander. Which brings us to third - never watch a trap. Well, you can, but the animal will just avoid it and the trap will do nothing. Even turning your back on the trap can spring it if ready and that includes fish traps. Fish traps (the stick ones at least) in other respects don't act like land traps, they can work no matter how far you wander off.

    Missed one of the most important thing. 1st Mega tip! Build Armor ASAP go for stick armor first then bone. Helps you avoid injuries from attacks and keeps rashes, scratches and abrasions out 100%! Craft: 2 rope 1 bananaleaf 3 item of choice (Sticks, Bone, Metall, Armadillo) You get massively better durability for each one of the same type you craft. 2nd tip. Keep clean and eat blue mushrooms or funnel mushrooms to keep parasites away. Dont actually need to cook anything or drink clean water with this trick. just drink dirty water and eat a mushroom. 3rd tip. Put a headset on and listen for threats while traveling and keep some tobacco leaves on you for when you eventually walks into venomous threat. 4th tip. Bone soup is op. + stuff on drying rack/smoker/stone ring never spoils aslong as you dont pick them up to inventory. So eat directly from them instead and it will never spoil.

    Another two tips: If you’re in a pinch and have no fibre or a birds nest to start a fire (kindling), you can HARVEST the moliniera (yellow), tobacco (purple) and lily (pink) flowering leaves to get fibre (kindling). The pre built bases (drug lab, fishing dock, etc) have a calendar on a wall with a parrot or macaw picture on it. You can save your game here and don’t need to rush to build something to save your game.

    I'm playing this game for years now and even now I manage to find some caves and other things that I missed in the past. Green Hell is forcing you to never put your guard down or you will die horribly. Since you are basically on foot all the time, the game area is huge and the best solution is to have 4-5 large homes on the map and to build temporary camps wherever you can, which includes at least one frame with roof, bed and small fireplace. It is great to leave some soups, clean water and food that cannot spoil just in case if you get to the camp in the middle of the night...

    You forgot bone brew. Does not give as much as meat soup, but you get a lot of bones from kills (or dead animals with flies). You don't want to eat human meat, but bone brew made with human bones is completely safe and does nothing to sanity, and it cures food poisoning. On top of that, bones never expire, so you can load up your storage. Eat meat, but have a massive stockpile of bones for winter. By far my favorite food in the game.

    It's a great game and you could play it for months! I haven't played it in a long time, but I remember this: As many have mentioned: First priority: Build a shelter and a bed. This will allow you to save, otherwise, you can't save your progress! Build many of those before it gets too dark, so you can sleep and save. Sleeping on the ground (without a bed) will give you nasty infections (creepy stuff under the skin, use a fish bone to remove it, see below about fish). Believe or not, one of the most important items in the game is..... stones! Sometimes hard to find but you need them for TONS of things. In the beginning of the game, gather them whenever you see them and build your first weapon: A stone axe = Rope + stone + a stick!! Build fires before it gets dark! Not much to see where you're going when it's dark. Get enough sleep! Make a bow and arrow: Easy to make and crucial for hunting. When you meet hostiles: Don't attack them head on: Hide behind anything and AIM FOR THE HEAD, instant kill. Then gather their much superior weapons (bows, spears, and metal arrows!) Most important plants are coconuts (to eat AND store water, or to collect rain water. Followed by a mysterious green fruit that hydrates and heals lots of things that might kill you or hurt you badly) Fish: Are perfect. use your arrow to nail them. keep the bones, you'll need them if you sleep on the ground and get infections! Hunting any animal: Aim for the head or they will run away and die far from you. KEEP THE BONES! Bones are great for making the best nutritious soup AND weapons and armor!! Watch out for snakes and spiders (you'll find spiders almost always in caves, but occasionally outside too! Don't eat them!) Cooking: You cook almost anything: Bones, fish, meat, snakes, mushrooms, etc. Don't cook or eat spiders! Build shelters / houses near water: You have access to water, fish and mud (to make walls, storage, etc) You can build houses with multi stories! Useful if there are hostiles or wild animals around. Create water filters whenever you can and make at least 2 wherever you have a shelter. In the dry season (no rain!) grab water from the lakes / rivers and refill your water filters!! Important: When you go a journey, always take 2 (or more) water bidons and enough food, bandages and medicine. And 8 -10 arrows! Medicine: Blue mushrooms and Tobacco plants will heal 99% of anything that sickens you. Caves are a great source for obsidian which is much stronger than regular stones for weaponry. You can also build a bed there and sleep. But kill the spider first! When you reach an abandoned place, look around, there is almost always a machete, which is a great weapon / tool. Look for canned food, those won't spoil, carry those on trips. Most foods will spoil in about 2 days. Yellow mushrooms are edible. There is a limit to how much you can carry, so carry the most vital stuff that you'll need. Some tribes are very hostile (who can blame them!), others are not. Watch out for alligators!! And the occasional panther. Learn how to use the map, it's easy but crucial. There are tons of other things, but you will find them on your own as you play. And remember to enjoy the scenery, it's awesome!!

Loaded up and tried to build a shelter to save the game (lesson learned, right?) 2 jaguars show up as im almost finished and one of them persued and beat me up, I bled out before I could find the yellow flower plant for bandages and didn't get to save >.< . I am mostly into “cozy games” so this is a bit of a departure for me but I like survival games. I started in story mode (walk in the park mode) hoping that the tutorial would teach me how to play. I have learned a lot more from just trying stuff in survival mode.

  • @capntonydanza
    @capntonydanzaАй бұрын

    I just started and I have a few hours in. It was hard at first and I kept dying but the biggest thing that helped me was to just stop and think. I realized I was moving too fast and trying to play it like a video game. So I stopped and said I’m gonna make a base. I just started learning how to play the game. Which at first seems obvious but idk I just went in figuring the game would just open up as I moved forward but it doesn’t. You really have to survive. Now I have a decent little base. I under stand how to craft. I’m able to keep all of my stats fairly high. I never get I sick. I never get worms. I only ever get a random leech but those are easy to take care of. Also one tip on water. I just drink straight from rivers. Gives you the most hydration points per sip I think like 40. And idk if it’s just cause I’m on normal mode but it’s like a 50/50 chance I get a parasite. But even if I do i just get in the habit of collecting the orange cup mushrooms which take 1 parasite away per mushroom. So basically tastes the risk out of drinking river water.

    So there is an exploit with the drying rack. If you eat the meat directly off the rack, without adding to your inventory first, it lasts forever. You can build a drying rack in your base, stock it with meat, and leave it indefinitely. Couple that with the fact Brazil nuts last forever as long as you don't harvest them, and Honey doesn't spoil either and you can build up a massive stock of non-perishable food at your bases... Drinking dirty water gives you level 2 parasites, eating the redish/brown mushrooms, or the blue mushrooms removes parasites. So in a pinch, just collect some of those mushrooms and you can drink all the dirty water you want.

    I just started playing about 2-3 days ago and decided I would do my own Survival attempt. Spawned in on a river bank with a nice little clearing that I started setting up my base in and from my base, I can see the Fishing Dock/Camp like on the other side of the river a good stone's throw away. Went there and got a fishing spear, broke down the water purifier and took that back to my camp, and found an old rusty machete to boot.

Well the shoe is definitely on the other foot coming into green hell. Its fun. I like this game.

    Another tip I would like to share is to be aware that this game has NO AUTOSAVE!! So after you've made some progress or accomplished a few things, remember to build a frame with roof to save your game. I can't tell you how many times I've gotten carried away with accomplishing various tasks on the go like "ok, one more thing, one more location, one more side quest" only to get bitten by a spider or snake without a tobacco dressing, caught off guard by a cat without an ash dressing, or tried to take out some Wahara warriors and got in over my head because there were 3 or 4 more that I didn't know were in the area. I wind up dead and then look at the clock to realize that I've been playing for 2 or 3 hrs and NEVER SAVED MY GAME!!!

    Thanks for this video. I'm fascinated by this game but Im been having a rough time with it. I already restarted 3 times so far. I'm not sure if I'm doing it right Ive been trying to survive in the initial starting point near the water. I built the structure that allows me to save and managed to pick up some water with the coconut. But now I have 2 worms beneath my skin and I'm panicking. I also can't find food. I need to keep my cool if I wanna survive. I crossed the fallen tree bridge while searching for coconuts and almost stepped over a rattlesnake. Since then I haven't left the initial spot since it seems to be more free of dangers. Lol. This game is very imersive but really hard.

    Definity appreciate the guide. Like others here I didnt want to "cheat" but the game is just a tad unforgiving for my tastes and I'm not fond of the playing character having zero knowledge of survival craft despite going on such a deep jungle dive. Also unless I'm playing wrong I don't believe it's wise to put everything in your mouth to learn it's effects, at least not in such large life threatening doses. Otherwise lovely game. Edit: btw I'm only 4-5 hour in. 3 of those hours were spent playing the tutorial repeatedly as the game crashed after the initial day 32 cutscene. Very frustrating. Otherwise I'm sure I'd know how to properly survive.
