GREEN CANYON - OYMAPINAR DAM - MANAVGAT - SIDE BY Yılgör DEMİRTAŞ
The green canyon is located about 65 km east of Antalya, in the Oymapınar dam area, which is the fourth highest dam in Turkey, on the Manavgat river. There is a 7 km deep canyon next to the wide lake basin. It can only be reached by boat. There are three negir water sources in Kanyon Sound. Before the dam was formed, these sources were waterfalls. but when the reservoir was full, it was under water. One source is sparkling mineral water. One of these waters comes from Altınbeşik Cave in İbradı district of Antalya. The last region of the canyon is connected to İbradı district. In addition, small waterfalls are formed in places from the mountains, which can be seen when the waters rise in winter. At the end of the dam lake, there is another 4 km canyon that can only be seen in winter. It can only be seen when the waters rise.
Located in the heart of the Taurus Mountains, close to Manavgat, the Green Canyon is a popular destination for summer trips in the Antalya region. Looking at the pictures of this place you might think it's in the Indonesian Islands but no, this beautiful place is right here in Turkey.
With its beautiful, natural scenery and one of Turkey's largest dams, it is actually one of the few canyons in Turkey that offers excursions. The scenery is breathtaking and the boat tours are great too!
The Green Canyon is located at the Olymapınar Dam in the Taurus Mountains near the town of Manavgat.
You can walk along the coast and admire the beauty of nature. There are many cafes and restaurants serving Turkish specialties with a beautiful view on the coast. However, the best way to see the canyon up close is a 17-kilometer boat tour.
Boat Trips & Tours in Green Canyon (Manavgat)
One of the most popular activities in the canyon is a full-day boat trip through the picturesque canyon. The Green Canyon attracts visitors with its refreshing cold waters and peaceful calmness, especially on hot days.
During the leisurely cruise, you can sunbathe, enjoy the sensational views and take lots of photos. The impressive canyon with its natural beauty and the Taurus Mountains form the perfect backdrop.
The journey takes you to Olymapınar Dam, one of Turkey's largest dams with an area of 470 hectares on a rugged rocky terrain. The calm atmosphere and peaceful setting create a calming experience.
You can jump into the clear waters at various stops, swim in the emerald green lake and cool off. Usually, food and drinks are included in the price during boat trips.
Alternatively, there are nature tours where you look for the endangered brown fish owl, a species in the owl family.

Manavgat is rich in beautiful landscapes and amazing natural wonders. As such, you are sure to find stunning views surrounding Green Canyon.
One of them is Manavgat Waterfall. It is one of the most visited waterfalls in Turkey.
