    Greeks founded not only Massalia (Marseille) but also Monako (Monoikos) Nikaia (Nice) Antibes (Antipolis) Whereas the area of Cannes was the ancient Greek city Aigitna And also a couple of cities in Corsica by Corinthians

    I have taken the ferry from Rome to Barcelona which passed between Corsica and Sardinia, where the sea was very choppy. The earlier voyages would have been horrendous

    One of possibly three Hercules went to N. Europe before Pytheas, as the Pillars of Hercules toponymic indicates. So, Pytheas knew where he was going.

    Yes, I'm doing Video-Lectures on these northern nations for the Thule series. Some archaeologists believe there was an early alliance (Augustan Era and the First Century AD).     Very interesting 1 question I have... you mentioned at the beginning that Massalia was the most outmost western colony. However, there was other cities as well that were even most west. Example, Barcelona.

    Yes, you are correct. But in 600 BC, Massalia was probably the first major outpost of Greek civilisation this far west. Massalia helped to establish more distant Greek outposts in later eras...
