Putting this together taught me that Greece really experiments with their entries, and I really love it. From pop, folk, the 80s sock hop, rock, rap, ballads, synth, etc. It's a lot of fun. Pleasure putting this together! More compilations coming soon!

Greece's very first entry singer is called Marinella and she is considered as the greatest ever Greek female singer. She is still in action - at the age of 80 - performing live in concerts with amazing energy and even though she is an endlessly moving all around the place performer the severe context of the first Greek representation (Greeks were just at the brink of getting rid of a dictatorship in 1974) obligated her to stay still while performing which was totally a contra - role for her and for those who know her style it is always so funny to watch. Our first participation was indeed a stunning one!

Greece is my favorite country in the Eurovision, not to mention their language which is SO beautiful They have so many good songs. My faves are: 1977, 1979 (so underrated!), 1989, 1992, 1995, 2001 (best), 2005 (daaa), 2006 (still makes me emotional every time I listen to it), 2008, 2010, 2011, 2013 Europe was literally deaf otherwise how come it took them 31 years to give Greece its first (and yet last) trophy?! This strikes me Ελλάδα ❤️ 🇬🇷

As a Greek I can assure you that most of the Greeks agree with your opinion. We're more of a traditional country and we have this rare love for both out country and our tradition which comes from our history. And most of these songs were written by heart (especially Oneiro Mou and Anoixi = My Dream and Spring). As a teenager who was born in 2004 and knowing my country the way it is now (with all the "xenomania") I didn't expect to find any particularly traditional songs and was very surprised when I did. I was even more surprised when I realized that they didn't get the credit and age they deserved. "Anoixi" is one of those songs that always make me cry. And most of our songs are about the feelings of slavery and later freedom. Freedom is EXTREMELY important. And then, war. The things this country has been through are unbelievable. And we're still going on after thousands of years. That's what we express with the help of music and that's the reason most of our music is so good. It's pure. It's real. It's Greek :)

Hehe, it's a little bit funny how in 2001 the victory of Greece was almost signed and sealed, I think Die for you was already a major hit in Europe, when Dave Benton and Tanel Padar came and stole the show :). Just as I said in a previous comment NOBODY in our country expected that :). When Estonia got its 12 points from the first country (Netherlands), I remember the jaw dropping, saying - haha, let's enjoy the briefest moment with Estonia on top of the scoreboard :). Well, this voting was one hell of an hour :). But I almost feel as if I should apologize for Estonia winning and Antique not :D - due to the way the preferences have mostly been voiced since then :). But if you compare the performances, I guess the answer is there, the "deer in the headlights" look and the stiff "rehearsed" dance movements may have cost the victory there :). Not so sorry after all :D. At least Greece got its redemption in 2005 :). I checked it out - Estonians have never been huge fans of the "hip shaking" greek songs in ESC, Antique got 6, Kalomira 1 and Helena P - ZERO points from the Estonian public :O :). Being into Eurovison for 25 years, i've only recently started warming up to those hip shakers (e.g Fuego), but not retroactively, so for me Kalomira was definitely overrated and I must admit, that Greece was among my least favorite winners since I started watching :). I do like Sakis for exactly the reasons you pointed out - he is into it, he's bringing the show and i'm sold! But my personal top 5 from the top are: 2006 - the drama and heartache that Anna Vissi brought to the stage, 2010 - OPA - that ethnic testosterone powerbomb, and such a good arrangement!!, 2009 - Sakis Rouvas - i did not specifically like that dance genre, hadn't he made that JUMP, he would not have won me over, but he did :D, great performance, which made me like the song as well!! 2011 watch me dance for that amazing powerful melody part and 2018 Oneiro mou for just being a good song :). S.A.G.A.P.O. is SO funny - we can't forget it in Estonia, it is just engraved in our brains :D as the contest took place here - I remember the band accusing the esc team for sabotaging their performance (i think they blamed the sound), but questionable sound was just one part of that number. But it's a happy funny memory to us, if you come to Estonia, I think people remember that song more than who won that year :D. So - give the password!

Oneiro mou was my winner before the semi. Yianna sounded good, but yes that stages choregraphy etc...a mess. Did she deserved the final? Yes I think so, over this is love at least(I love Demy but this is love is...meh)

I love the ethnically Greek entries. In particular from the 90's era. But also later. I wish Sweden would send more ethnically Norse music instead of the regular radio pop they churn out.

Nice video mate. Though i dont agreewith you that Greece has to send only traditional music in erovision. Traditional music is good because it sounds different but Greek music isn't only that. We have to promote also our pop and rock music scene. Sweden for example, it never sends tradional music to the contest and it ends up in the top 5 almost every year.

Amazing video! I love so much the message of "Oneiro mou" and I am so sad we didn't qualify. I don't think we will send sth with that strong message again.. But the performance was awful... 😞
